oh fyi persuasive speech is when you try to change someones thought on something in a speech

 

Because it's just like a jerry springer episode " luke im your father" now that could only be said on star wars or jerry springer and everyone love jerry springer.

I think you will have a hard time, as there are better trilogies than Star Wars such as Lord of the Rings. Oh well.

It sucked, especially since the topic i did I didn't even really agree with the stand I was takeing

And you don't need good topics. You need to be persuasive! It'd be really impressive if you were persuasive on a bad topic. Like trying to convince people that they're chickens or something. And if you want to be really persuasive, I recommend threatening to beat people with sticks. People listen to threats.

If you want to stick with the Star Wars theme, back in ninth grade, I did a persuasive speech on why The Phantom Menace deserved the visual effects Oscar over The Matrix.

The speech was well recieved, and I got a good grade. Bear in mind, however, that I was forteen.

In speech class in my--junior? sophomore? I can't remember--year of high school, the topic of my persuasive speech was why people should spay/neuter their cats and dogs. If more people spayed/neutered their pets, it would save the lives of thousands of animals who are euthanized each year. I don't know if I changed any minds, but I got an A on the speech.

 

Alright, look Evil_Billaba... if your grammar in assignments is even remotely similar to how you write for class, I don't think it matters what you write about for your assignment, if you know what I mean.

Pick a topic that you feel strongly about and know a lot about, and seem to have a good case on. Enthusiasm goes a long long way towards making any speech of any sort on any topic good, so get something you really feel passionate about. Make sure you have reasonable, logical, and well-researched arguments (well-researched if they required research that is, otherwise just reasonable things you are pretty sure are true).

EDIT: In my opinion, something like Star Wars being the best might not be as good of a topic because it's a matter of opinion, and thus very difficult to give hard evidence for. Though it could be done I'm sure, and done well, but in some ways something more fact-based or argument-based rather then opinion-based might be better.

But do whatever you want. Just be enthusiastic and convincing and have fun.

 

The best persuasive speech I ever heard was by a student at my high school, it was about 10-11 min. long and was on how political correctness has gotten way out of control

He gave the speech at competitions and I think he got to a national one but I'm not sure. But I think he got screwed over because out of the 3 judges, two rated him the highest and the last one hated his topic so gave him the lowest possible. Real impartial judge huh?
