It was the strangest thing but yesterday after days of not sleeping, I dug up some old Pink Floyd songs. Now I have never been a fan but I noticed that when I started to listen to it I became incredibly relaxed, like i hadn't been in years and even started to drift. I don't think I have slept so well in years. Pink Floyd has just found a new fan lol.

It's funny, but with your username I'm reminded that LOTR helped me sleep...

You might be on to something: sticking on "Animals" might even help me get over my chronic insomnia. That said, if I'm not careful some of Gilmour's guitar solo's might cause me to choke on my own vomit while I sleep.

P*U*L*S*E. That's the album. Or The Division Bell. Great for listening, great for drifting.

    I'll second that,hobbit.

I drank coffee late one night but I was desperate because I wanted to wake up early the next day.So I try to find something relaxing from my cd collection and I saw 'Dark Side of the Moon'. Now, I think that because of the rythm and the slow heartbeats, it makes your heart beat slower too..

I find the Floyd relax me(well, some tracks, not run Like Hell or Sheep for example).

However, given that it's thebest rock music I've ever heard, I find myself unable to insult Roger Waters by falling asleep during one of his albums. LOL! It's a bit like standing during the National Anthem. Would you sit down halfway through? :p

    :)

    I´ll second that, Thrax ;)

Pink Floyd has made many good things, but they never made me sleep!

And I have fallen asleep many times, when reading LOTR in bed :p

YOu guys mistake my intentions. I am not insulting Pink Floyd. I personally enjoy it now. But after six months of poor sleep I was looking for an answer. The music to me was soothing and calming and relaxed my mind and body. This allowed my fatigue to take hold and let me rest. Its not that I found it dull, but I found it comfortable and relaxing. There is a major difference.

    I know :)

And of course I´ve fallen asleep myself, listening to P F

And it´s great that you have gotten your eyes on Pink Floyd, their music rules ;)

But I would find it hard to fall aspeep during DSOTM, especially Time and Money :p

Sam. I was kinda teasing, really. ;) Apologies if I didn't convey that well. The truth is that quite a lot of Floyd stuff is very mellow and relaxing, and one could very well nod off to it.

I was merely taking the rise, [face_Austin_Powers]for ****s and giggles[/face_Austin_Powers].

Actually, I used to do a similar trick with an album called Serenades by Anathema(my second fave band), when I was at boarding school. I adore that album, but i'd put it on quietly in my dormitory and sleep(lightly) for about two hours between 2 and 4, then get up in time for when they served afternoon tea at 4pm.

The trick was that I'd be in a light sleep, and I'd keep waking up in the gaps between tracks. Just for a few seconds, then the next track would lull me back to sleep. However, during the gap, I'd open my eyes and look at the clock next to my head. Once it said 3.45 or later, I'd get up. cool system, huh?

Unless you hate Anathema's album Serenades of course, which everyone I've ever met does. :p

I'm listening to a track from it right now, it's called "Sleep in Sanity". My fave off the album(one of the first tracks that got me into Death Metal, not that anyone's interested).

I'd be afraid to fall asleep to Pink Floyd. [face_plain]
