Plo Koon's Fighter Crashing At Target
Posted by Mark on June 23, 2005:

Originally planned as a follow up addition to Hasbro's Assault Vehicle Assortment, it appears now that Target will host this Jedi Starfighter as another one of their Revenge of the Sith exclusives. After word came down that Entertainment Earth and others would no longer be offering the vehicle, fans became worried the ship had been cancelled. While we had received word the vehicle would still be available overseas, nothing had surfaced regarding U.S. distribution. We've now been able to confirm through three sources that Target will have exclusive distribution of the starfighter in the U.S. and hope to have more details soon. Plo Koon fans rejoice, for now it appears all is not lost.

Good to see that it wasn't completely canceled. I had assumed the worst when EE pulled it off pre-order. Hopefuly it ends up on Target's site soon :D

To what are you refering? The Lava Vader and the CT or the cups and battle sets? I assume its going to be like the later and not the former and be readily avalible in stores and even online ;)

    I don't like Target exclusives,because I don't have a Target near me. But,Plo's starfighter wasn't one of my "must have" toys anyway,so it's cool. :)

Will do. I'm hoping that maybe now I'll be able to actually find new stuff.

Darth_Frigerator, when I find out when they come in I'll let you know and maybe I could get one to you. I know how much it sucks never being able to find what you want.

    Yes, yes he was.

Remember during Order 66 he was flying around Cato Nemodia and the Arc-170s dropped behind him and blew him out of the sky

Isn't this starfighter just a repaint of the Saga version? If that's so, as big a Plo Koon fan as I am, I'll be skipping it.

I waited in line for my Lava Vader, and I was lucky enough to find a Clonetrooper Cup the first day the RotS merchandise was released. But I drop by various Targets hunting for goods at least 2-3 times per week and I never saw the Exclusive Clonetrooper. There was so much miscommunication between stores, and too many backroom deals that most of us decent people didn't get one. I had to resort to ebay, and paying $15 each to get mine.

$15 is bad? They were 12.99 to start with.

This is getting stupid now another exclusive how many of these are there supposed to be?do hasbro have some kind of poll which asks the scalpers what they would like to see then just make it for them.

There have always been lots of exclusives. Its a win win. If Hasbro has something they don't think they can sell on the open market they shop it around to diffrent stores as an exclusive. Something to get people in the door that might not come in otherwise.

You do have to have some luck but that isn't always the case. Thats why I mentioned the cups or the micro sets. They haven't even really been touched (at least here). I think all that want the Plo Koon ship will get one but I thought that about the CT too and that didn't seem to be the case.

Being from the uk it is just bad when we only got the tru exclusive holo yoda and frustrating when if I want something like this I would have to pay four times what its worth.

"If Hasbro has something they don't think they can sell on the open market they shop it around to diffrent stores as an exclusive"

in my point of view when you say something like that hasbro have seem to make alot of mistakes then and just have gone on their own accord and not what the public want odviously.

Yet you want them to cater to the collector, right?

Its a catch-22. Half, if honestly not all, of the things we say we want and would love to see wouldn't sell on the open market. People had been screaming about finishing out the cantina for decades and the only way it made sense to do it was as a Wal-mart exclusive. As long as we ask for the really obsucre things that we ask for the only way that we'll see them is as some one's exclusive.

Would it really make sense to make an open market ICMG?

Well they know for a fact the only way they can be the no1 toy company and make more money than they have ever done is to make those VOTC figures into a full line starting from the first 12 backs right the way through to the last figures then along the lines revisit all the playsets like the droid factory and also adding to the votc 4 dolls they released I would so love to see a VOTC 12" IG-88.

I wouldn't say that they know that. I wouldn't think that has ever crossed they minds :p

There are rumors that they may happen but I don't think its Hasbro's key money making strategy for the year. The VOTC line did pretty good for them but part of the reason it did so well is because it was key characters. Thats why we see 50 diffrent Lukes, Luke sells. Boba sells, Yoda sells, Han sells, Lando, not so much. There would be more then a few characters in there that "average" people would look at and say "who the ***** is that?" (especialy the SS Anakin which I'd really like to see in the new VOTC, not that its going to happen, but I'd like to see it). It would be a risk and I'm sure that Hasbro has weighed that. Even in the thread that I started when those rumors first came out you saw how many people were put off by the VOTC price point, its a thin line there.

thing is though if they made the figures just like the vintage figures then the production costs would be low like if they made a replica of the original vinyl caped kenobi figure with the telescopic saber that would not cost alot at all for them to make. I just pray they do as I have said in the previous post cause I missed out on the vintage lines not cause of my age but people bought me he-man grrrrrrr.
