Just out of curiosity, what is it "officially"?

    Padawan? Padawans? Padawani?

I think that it may be Padawan.

    "I am training four Padawan."

    "Where did the Padawan go?"

"What do you mean that the Padawan all died?!"

    I think it's Padawans.

"Qui-Gon Jinn trained two Padawans before he died."

I believe whenever I've seen Padawan in the plural it has usually been Padawans.

I believe that the plural of Padawan is Padawan.

After all, the plural of Jedi is Jedi.

Yet the plural of Jedi Knight is Jedi Knights. The same for Jedi Master. And if you look in Dark Rendezvous, chapter 3, page 89, last full chapter on the page, you'll see Padawans as the plural.

I haven't read that book yet. Is it in dialogue? And if so, is it by Yoda?

If it was, then I would question it! ;)

It is in dialogue, in the form of Jedi Master Ilena Xan addressing a group that includes "Apprentices, Padawans, Jedi Knights, and Masters:" Spoken by Yoda, it is not.
