Maybe it's just me, but I honestly thought the scene of Padme adressing the senate right after the attempt on her life was her best acting in the whole movie. She seemed to have real emotion and conviction in that scene. Anyone else agree?

I thought I was about to read about the deleted shower scene.

Seriously, that's a good scene you are talking about.

I thought that scene was terrible and I'm glad they left it out :)

The only deleted scene, on the DVD, that I thought should have been left in would be a scene at Padme's house, when there sitting down at the table. I thought that scene was good at showing the characters of Anakin and Padme. The future Darth smiling at Padme's neices, or what ever they were, was just eerie I felt.

The scene wasn't all that good, but she did act good in it.

I agree with T_A_W. I felt that scene was horrible.

The best acting Natalie did in AotC was in her home on Naboo, and I think it would've served the audience better than several other scenes that tried to force the same feeling that this simply potrayed.

Meh, I liked Portman throughout the movie. My favorite scenes with her are:

    - meadow picnic
    - love confession
    - Anakin's confession scene

    - meadow picnic

    - Anakin's confession scene

    I almost agree :p

The meadow picnic and love confession scenes are definatly her best, I like her acting in the first kiss scene also, and the deleted scene where we meet her family. She doesn't really do enough in Anakin's confession scene for me, but thats not her fault its how it is in the script.

I think her best scene is "the love pledge",but you're right, the scene of "Padme adressing the senate" is very well acted too.

Eh, I can live with or without the Senate scene. If I had my way, every deleted scene would be included in an ultimate cut of each film, but I think Natalie had several scenes that were just as well acted, if not better, than this one.

As was mentioned before, I thought the scenes at her family's house on Naboo wwere terrific. I would rather have had those scenes than the Queen Jamilla one.

I like her in that scene, too! but I would have liked to see more of Palpatine in it. In the novel he announces her assasination, thinking she's dead. Pretending to be all sad, then is happy when she shows.

This is what I think, should have been left in and taken out....

    1. The extended landing sequence on Naboo. Well acted and introduces us to the conflicts in Padme's life. Her desire to serve vs. her family's wants. Also shows Anakins selfishness. He's glad Padme served her planet instead of trying to find a family so he would get a crack at her. Good scene.

    2. The Family scene (Not the crap bedroom scene), Loved being introduced to Padme's parents and sister. This scene makes it easier to believe Padme's openness to Anakin's advances. Without this scene, the relationship seems rushed. Key moment is Padme at the kitchen window. It is there where she crosses over to giving Anakin a chance.

    3. The meeting the queen scene should have been left out and replaced with the scenes above. This is a meeting scene straight out of Menace and has no need to be in the film. We already know Padme is not the queen, we have already scene Padme and Anakin bicker. This scene slowed down the movie and didn't advance the plot at all. Bad scene and should have been left out.

I like the Senate Address a lot. I wish they hadn't trimmed it up so much for the DVD. I think it originally involved more senators talking with her. She did a great job in that scene and in all her scenes.

She is good in the senate scene, but i think her best acting is when she says "he's being polite mom we're starving" I also think its some of the best dialogue in the movie, its the only time she doesn't seem like a robot.

That may sound like a joke but I'm serious, I wish her whole performance could be at the level of that line.

What is it with everyone hating the bedroom scene?
Anytime a guy can spend time with Padme' in her bedroom
    ...that's a GOOD thing.

    BTW,
I would love to see a comedy skit of Padme and Anakin meeting the parents in the style of Ben Stiller meeting Robert DeNiro in MEET THE PARENTS. [face_laugh]

Can you imagine DeNiro grilling Hayden about that rat tail Jedi hair?

I didn't like the bedroom scene because the pictures on the wall just didn't feel right. They didn't seem like something from Star Wars, in my opinion.

agreed. And I just htink dialogue wise its not a very important scene, I'm not even sure what Padme says at the end when she refers to her first day as a senator.

I thought it was a nicer bit of her acting, but not a speech necessary to the plot or one I'd particularily like to have back in.

I think her best parts are in the deleted scenes with the extended arrival and dinner with her folks, the meadow picnic, and the love pledge, myself.

I'm really glad they took that one out. It had the most trite and cliched dialogue of the whole movie.

Funny, on the Episode I DVD, virtually ALL trhe deleted scenes actually should be in the movie (except Ani and Greedo fighting, and the Waterfall- as cool as it is, it is superfluous). Episode II's deleted scenes, well I'm glad they ALL lended on the cutting room floor. they are trite and cliched and crap: the rest of the film's dialogue and plot is great, and I can see exactly why most of those scenes were axed.

I would have loved the Senate scene in its original form.

The version that ended up on the DVD was crap - all the drama was taken out of it.

It was the same as Queen Jamillia's scene - all the juice taken out of the scene.

I thought Porman's best secne was when she was wearing that tight white shirt and watching Obi Wan's message. that whole secne with her and Anakin talking was the best part of the whole movie.

Anyone else think the special effects in the Senate Address scene were.... absolutely horrendous? I swear there was better looking CG back in 1990. [face_plain]
