Back around 2007 or so, the old version of Amph decided to run a 100 greatest films of all time list selected by the users. Flashforward to December of last year, and after Sight and Sound posted their most recent greatest films of all list, someone on here suggested that maybe we could do another version of our list. And that idea stuck with me and you know what, why not? I'd be willing to host it, but I want to know how many of you would be interested in participating before actually going ahead and committing.

Simple, anyone who wants to participate would make a list of their top 10 films of all time, dm it to me, then I would tally up the submissions and post the results.

Is this for films that we like, or films that we think are good?

If the objective is to hit 100 films, I might suggest expanding that to submitting your top 15-20. More work to tally, but more likely to add variety beyond the usual suspects and open up the possibility of some dark horse candidates ranking. Otherwise, you may risk ending up with the top 30 being films on most people's lists and the last 50 (if you get that many) being 1-vote ties.

the usual suspects is a fine film, but i don't expect it to dominate the list to that degree, especially with spacey and singer's involvement.

You’re right, makes more sense to expand it to 20 to be safe.

My list is pretty evenly divided between zombies, vampires, sci fi and romantic comedies.

If Star Wars movies are good enough for the Sight and Sound list that I've never heard of before today, they're good enough for us.
