Every year, New York City classic rock station Q104.3 has listeners vote for their all-time favorite rock songs. The votes are compiled over a period of about a month I think and the top 1,043 songs are selected. They played all these songs over the course of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Wednesday afternoon to Sunday night with the number one song being played at about 9 pm. This is the top ten list as voted by the listeners:

    10. The Rolling Stones - Satisfaction
    9. The Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the Devil
    8. The Beatles - Let It Be
    7. The Eagles - Hotel California
    6. The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again
    5. The Beatles - Hey Jude
    4. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird
    3. The Who - Baba O'Reilly
    2. Derek and the Dominoes - Layla
    1. Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven

The entire list will be released tomorrow morning.

I don't know why but for some reason, Sympathy for the Devil just seems way out of place on this list. But that's me.

Sympathy is the type of song everyone lieks, but rarely says they like.

Please tell me Sweet Child O' Mine was number 11.

    thats cool.

my local rock station had a thing called "A to Z". they played songs that where not normally in rotation and i think people voted for them on their website, not sure.

    but they had contests and stuff, like when an Aerosmith song played you have to be the ninth caller and they opend up an envelope. i was abot to get my boss's son to win a hundred bucks. that sucka has to buy me lunch now 8-}

I really don't remember. I didn't hear the entire list obviously but I heard November Rain sometime this morning so it was probably around 70 or so.

Not a terrible list. I only got to catch the tail end of it today on my way back to New York.

"Stairway" as #1? Not suprising. But "Sympathy" does seem a little high.

my 80's station did a "400 Greatest 80's Songs" list. I was appalled to see With Or Without You come in at 125!!! I am outraged! Grrr... oh, sry.

that's a pretty decent list, though I've yet to hear Stairway to Heaven :(

I can't wait for the whole list. If November Rain was at 70 something that almost guarantees Sweet Child O' Mine being higher.

Bohemian Rhapsody was on at 7 tonight when I got out of work. It was at about 30 I think. That's waaaay too low for a song of that caliber.

The list in its' entirity will be released sometime tomorrow. I'll post it here when I get home from work. I'm curious as to where some of my favorite songs are on this list too. I think the Beatles and Zeppelin had the most songs on the list overall. 57 each or something ridiculous like that.
