My friend was remembering that she had this Ewok doll when she was little (about 1983 or earlier.) She says it was furry and plush with medium to dark fur. Maybe about 10 inches high with a darkish colored cloak with a hood.

Here's the question. She thinks that it might have had DARK EYES THAT GLOWED RED when you squeezed its tummy, but she can't quite remember and desperately wants to know. Does anyone know if there was ever such a toy? Thanks so much!

A Universe of Star Wars Collectables lists 5 Ewoks that Kenner did in 1983. They range from 14" (Wicket, Princess Kneesa, Paploo, and Latara) to 18" (Zephee). They also did 6 different 8" Woklings. Unfortunately it says nothing about glowing eyes, nor are any of these pictured. Super Collectors Wishbook has pictures of a few of these (and the Canadian one Mike referred to) but again no information on glowing eyes. And the ones pictured (mostly Woklings) don't really match up to your description. I tried a few Google searches but didn't find anything conclusive. You might try some Ebay searches to see if you can find a similar figure.

I remember the stuffed Ewoks. I have the stuffed Wicket at my mom's house. He was around 14-16" tall, but his eyes did not glow.

I also had two of the baby Ewoks. Their eyes didn't glow either. But they were well-loved. :D

Wow, I'm impressed at your encyclopedic knowledge on this subject! We were just curious about the eyes. After reading your responses, my friend has decided that she must have made up the part about them glowing. Thanks so much, and the Force be with you all.

Does she know for sure it was a true Ewok, or just a look-a-like?

There were alot of knock-offs of popular toys in the '80s. I found dome of my sisters old toys and there were several "fake" Care Bears. Just bears with geniric hearts on ther tummies.

It could have been just a "space creature" unless she remembers it had a Star Wars tag. Then, there goes my contribution... ;)

I have a few of the Kenner Ewoks with hoods, and some woklings (those didn't have hoods); and none have the glowing eyes. It would have been interesting to have though:)

Plush- (the ones produced:Latara, Paploo, Kneesaa,Wicket)

There were also a few plush Ewoks made at Disney, but I don't think they had glowing eyes either. Those should be pictured in the Super Wishbook LAJ_FETT mentioned.

Yep, they're in Wishbook. There is a dark brown one with a pink cowl and a light brown one with a green cowl. They are also mentioned (but not pictured) in Universe. No year mentioned for these, however.

hey there. i stumbled across your question whilst searching for an ewok toy i could purchase for my friend for christmas. He mentioned that his childhood toy was a ewok that fit your description, and it had eyes that glowed red. id like to help you out and tell you what company made it and so forth, but unfortunately we have no idea of that. We're both from Melbourne, Australia, so i don't know if that helps. He also mentioned that it made a growling noise as its eyes lit up, and that the eyes were smaller than those of the other ewoks. hope i was of help.

okay...i can give a definite answer on the glowing eye thing. one of my best friends has the wicket doll in question. the eyes are made of translucent red plastic with reflective material behind them so that they "shimmer" in the light. that's really a crappy explanation, but it's the best i can come up with right now. it is kinda eerie when you look at it. and, his has about 20 years of wear and tear so the whole thing looks antique and spooky.

now as for reports of growling...that's a mystery to me.
