It's been awhile since I've read Shadows of the Empire, and I am wondering...I seem to remember that the book elluded to Dash's death, but that it left it open. He didn't really die, or did he? I know there are comics that further the story after SOTE, and Dash is in it, so he must not be dead.

One more thing, in the SOTE Nintendo 64 game, Dash Rendar (if you play the game in medium mode), survives the skyhook battle, but if played in easy mode, we really don't know if he dies.

So my question is, what's the deal with this guy? Does he live in still in the EU or what? Is the SOTE N64 game apart of EU timeline?

Nope, he didn't die. In the comic book Shadows of the Empire: Evolution Guri meets Dash in a bar where we discover that he is alive. He faked his death because he didn't want to get drawn into the Rebellion and wanted to stay free.

Thanks guys, that's what I thought. So I guess then, that the N64 game is correct, if you play it on medium mode? Cool. Wonder where Dash went to off to after the Guri comic book series then....

    Thanks people. :)

He's alive but shipless and penniless. Han Solo sued him for stealing his persona. :p

Lando should have sued him also, for usurping his chance at the limelight. As is evident at the end of ESB, Lando was to be the "new Han" until the original smuggler came back. SotE would have been a great opportunity to add some depth to Lando's character, but instead all we got were a bunch of "he owed me a favor's."

I'd like to see Dash make a return in the NJO, and then he can die in some heroic battle.

Didn't Rik have a beard? But really, all three were modled after Solo, you have to expect some simularities.

Was Dash a jedi? I mean, he destroyed an army of AT-ATs aboard a speeder on Hoth, defeated a walker while armed only with a pistol, defeated IG-88, took out a small army of stormtrooper aboard the Suprosa, defeated hundreds of Black Sun guards on Coruscant, and vaporized Xizor's skyhook station.

    According to the game. :D

Actually, it was he, not Boba Fett who was the mayor of (Sernpidal? Damn, I forget the name of that place. Haven't picked up VP in a while. It's starting to show. But I digress.) It was Dash Rendar who fed the Dovin Basal the Thermal Detonator Cocktail. Possible, is it not?

He may as well be dead. His role in the GFFA came to an end long ago.

    Nope.
Dash survived by jumping to hyperspace and faking his death.
It's well enough documented and evidence is available from several sources...

I never liked Dash, so I never would have cared enough to find out.

Actually, I didn't like Shadows of the Empire at all. I thought Xizor was a stupid bad guy. I mean, why would he usurp Vader's power?

I don't know, I guess that's not a well thought out reason to dislike him but I did.

The novel is only from Hero's point of view. Luke, Lando, Leia, etc. From there point of view dash bit it(which was what dash intended them to think).

The comics from bounty hunter's point of view from the most part showed the events of what happened from only what they could see.

The game which told more of the story from Dash's point of view showed his escape, since he was the only one capable of knowing that he had infact escaped since he didn't want others to know that he had.

Art of brother's hildebrandt which has art for events in all 3 sources had art of his escape. As well as a cut quote from the novel, from the escape(perry had written all the events into his draft of the novel, but cut out stuff to give each part of the story a chance at unique individual information, these cut parts were used for the background information for the other parts of the story.)

Then in perry's SOTE: Evolution, he showed dash's last known appearance after rotj.
