I would like to know something that might seems stupid, but well, surely other people who dress as Jedi had the same problem (maybe?!?), I have glasses, and I dont wear contact lens (I am just scared of these things!! just some sort of a phobia like spiders! you will say its my problem and too bad!!) anyway, my view is terrible too, I need them, so does anyone has idea how I could work out something that wouldnt look stupid (no mask either, obviously it wouldnt fit because of the glasses) but still Jedi looking?

    Just wear them!

Thats what I do. I know several other that do as well. I've never heard any comment about a person wearing glasses while in costume as a Jedi.

Now Darth Maul with glasses... that I can see being weird.. but your typical Jedi? Wear them and see the faces of the people who appreciate you in the costume.

I just wear them. But I do try to remember to take them off for photos every since my photo was in the starwars.com caption site and someone made a funny wisecrack about the glasses.

    Glasses caption ;)

When I started costuming I had the SAME problem. I have very poor vision (I can only see about 6 inches in front of my nose :( ) and had to wear the glasses all the time. I wore them no matter what, I would say the glasses were a force honing device LOL. I wear contacts now (I was really scared too, took me an HOUR to put ONE lens in my first time LOL) and I would never go back to glasses. Keep the glasses, and if anyone says anything, just ignore them and know that you look smart :)

Here's me 2 years ago with glasses (my first Jedi costume)...

and here's me now (my Dathomirian Jedi)...

IMO, you should just wear your glasses - as others on this post have suggested. I figure that the Star Wars universe is big enough to accomodate them!

However, if you wanted to, you could "modify" them to look like they came from a galaxy far, far away... Maybe some structures glued onto the arms, or perhaps shaded lenses? Just some ideas. I'm sure you can come up with something if you thought you could build a good backstory around it. Good luck!

I look a little like a hippy according to someone. But there are species of beings who are photosenstive.:-D

I've worn sunglasses under my Plo Koon mask to hide my eyes better. Just get a mask that doesnt have open eyes.

great! thanks for all the advices, I think I might just keep them then! I had them at Halloween, but of course I only went in my family, so nobody did comments on the glasses. it sures does look better without them though! I havent bought clip on sunglasses for these, but I guess it might not be a bad idea.
would goggles alone work? (but darkened enough so we wouldnt see the glasses, but I would still see with them on!)
well anyway I will sure try something (except a mask! dont wanna cook under one!), and if it doesnt work, then I will stick with the glasses alone, after all, as one of you said, Im not doing Darth Maul, just a typical Jedi!
    thanks!
and is there a place on this site where I can find a lot of pictures of people costumes? just to see what they have done

Try the Jedi Assembly and Rebel Leigion. Both are great places for getting ideas. Hit google and put in "Jedi fan costumes".

Consider doing something all your own too. :) Be creative!

I do tend to look a little like a Jedi hippie with my Lara Croft looking sunglasses.:)
Key for the clip ons is getting ones that match the size and color of your frames. The lense colors don't matter.
Sears, and Wal-mart have them. Or when you get your glasses perscription changed, select the glasses frames that have the clip one with them. That's what I'll be doing next. The magnetic ones look good.

it's alright, really. i dont know if you've ever watched ryan vs. dorkman on the fanfilm section. but the glasses are an essential piece of the costume. and if anybody knocks your glasses off, or knocks you for wearing them, then feel that little extra liberty to channel the darkside...
