I was watching ANH again rencetly and noticed that one, if not two other Rodians were wearing the sames yellow and green/tiel uniform which Greedo wore when confronting Han. For sure, there was another Rodian standing by the Falcon when Jabba meets Han in the docking bay. There is also a crowd scene outside the docking bay when the spy informs the stormtroppers of the droids whereabouts. I was sure I saw another Rodian, there, wearing the exact same clothing.

    Can someone explain this?

do all Rodians on Tatooine wear the same clothes?

Everything you always wanted to know about Rodians, but were afraid to ask.

I cannot find any in-universe explanations as to why they all wear similar clothes, but here is the behind-the-scenes explanation:

In the original versions of A New Hope and Return of the Jedi, all the Rodian background characters wore the same costume as Greedo. The Rodians added to the Max Rebo Band in the Special Edition of Return of the Jedi were the first Rodians to have their own costumes, not to mention the first Rodians to appear on screen who were not bounty hunters.

Thanks Merlin. I've seen the film many many times, but never noticed this.

When making ANH they needed a variety of aliens and so made several of some of them and just gave them the same costumes. There are other aliens that dress similarly as well such as the Snivvians, Morseerians and Saurin in the Cantina. Also consider that some of the Rodians are probably the same - ie the same costumes were used to portray different Rodian characters in different scenes.

The behind the scenes info mentioned may also point to an in-universe answer though. The Rodians seen in the OT were predominantly involved in bounty hunting or mercenary work which may explain their similar outfits. It may just be traditional for Rodians in those professions.

Yeah, their occupation may have been a factor. For sure the actual reason, though, is saving money on costumes and things of that sort.

The most logical answer, of course. Naturally, after the fact, someone will write some 'guide' that tries to
explain it away. I think that Greedo's people all belong to the same 'hive', and that their queen/mother
dresses them all, and she get's a bulk discount at Greedo-K Mart.

All aliens dress alike. It's like Vulcans all having the same haircut and Klingons all being warriors.

Diversity and individuality is for us HUMANS!

I've kind of wondered how hard it is to go grab some other outfit out of wardrobe. In the prequels, when duplicate characters arose like Eeth Koth and Agen Kolar, they retained the exact same outfit. Countless other Jedi robes were made, I mean why not go get one of the other ones? When actors in rodian costumes had to be brought on set, why would it have been any harder to grab the Duros or Saurin space suits or some other extra costume rather than reusing the same costume over and over creating Greedo clones in the background. It's not as important for Eeth Koth and Agen Kolar since they have no lines and most people aren't going to know who the character(s) is anyway, but Greedo is a memorable character even if he was only in the one scene, I don't know why they didn't make a greater effort not to have him "reappear" (it's particularly noticeable when Jabba is talking to Han in the hangar).

I mean in ROTJ Beedo yet again wears the same Greedo outfit, so it wasn't only an issue for ANH.

In TPM there was at least one Rodian on Tatooine that had a similar (if not same) style of outfit, though it was colored differently.

Actually Star Trek has established multiple times that Klingons are not just warriors. :p

How come no Aliens are nude? Do Aliens have a saucy sense of style too?

If all Jedi can dress alike, why not Rodians? Maybe it is because of their profession, as pointed out by others.
