Question about Leia...

I think this may have been asked before, many moons ago, but...

When did Leia get her Jedi Training? Who trained her and how did she get her first lightsaber?

I know that Luke built her the Red one she carries in the NJO, but before then she had a lightsaber. But Leia was never really a Knight, was she? So how could she have built a lightsaber?

I believe someone told me Vima Da-Boda taught her what she knows of the force, and gave her a lightsaber.

Whats up with that?

Througout the Bantam novels at seemingly random intervals. And some Dark Horse comics. Dark Empire and The Thrawn Trilogy come to mind.

"Who trained her and how did she get her first lightsaber?"

Luke built one for her in Heir to the Empire.

"I know that Luke built her the Red one she carries in the NJO, but before then she had a lightsaber."

Actually, Luke built her her first lightsaber, and Vima gave her her second one (pardon the horrible phrasing, but it's almost midnight)

"But Leia was never really a Knight, was she?"

Luke said she was in the Corellian Trilogy.

"So how could she have built a lightsaber?"

Very carefully . But she never did build a saber.

Vima did give her a lightsaber, and did teach her a little about the Force, but good old Lukie was responsible for most of her training.

 

Leia's had three lightsabers, the one she carried in TTT, the one Vima gave her, and her current one which Luke presented to her in the Corellian Trilogy when he declared her a Jedi. This one was perfectly balanced for her use. Incidentally, the one Vima gave her was destroyed by Palpatine in issue 4 of Dark Empire, which suggests the one she uses against Luke in issue 6 is the one she was using in TTT.

 

So...leias a jedi knight?

 

YES, a fact that was overlooked in the early NJO. Later NJO has been protraying her more in this light.

 

Then the one in the Corellian Trilogy was destroyed by Tsavong Lah. I'm pretty sure she's got a new one by now, so she probably built it herself.

 

I could've sworn I read somewhere that Luke built that one for her too **scratches head in confusion** maybe it was the one he made for her in HttE?

 

OKAY EVERYONE..... I want to clear this up once and for all...............

Listen Carefully..... I dont mean to be arrogant.... BUT I KNOW THIS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Luke builds Leia EXACTLY TWO.. YES TWO lightsabers.........

First is in 'HEIR TO THE EMPIRE'... it has a Blue blade.....the handel is seen on the front of PLANET OF TWILIGHT, except the cover artist got confused with Callista's lightsaber being yellow and gave it a yellow blade when it in fact is blue.....(curious how Luke makes lightsabers almost identical to his own for Leia)

SECONDLY he builds her a RED Bladed lightsaber in 'AMBUSH AT CORELLIA'... this is the lightsaber that leia uses in throughtout the Corellian trilogy and she uses it after Tsavong Lah destroys the lightsaber she uses in BALANCE POINT.....
It is also seen on the back of the STAR BY STAR novel , it is used to burn Viqi Shesh etc., and is used to protect herself and Han in REBEL STAND...

In DARK EMPIRE Leia is GIVEN a lightsaber from VIMA DA BODA it has a BLUE blade......

Vima's lightsaber is destroyed by the Emperor's clone, Leia STEALS a RED bladed Lightsaber from the Emperor's stash along with the Holocron....this Lightsaber is DESTROYED by TSAVONg LAH in BALANCE POINT

Leia CONSTRUCTS her own lightsaber, it is seen in the LAST COMMAND GRAPHIC NOVEL ( she constructs it around the time of the LAST COMMAND ) It has a Blue blade.It is unknown why Leia does not use her own lightsaber, but when she duels Luke in Ambush at Corellia, she tells luke she prefers it her own lightsaber and that it is more balanced than her own weapon..

This lightsaber is used by Mara Jade to kill the Clone of luke and Joruus C'Boath....

So she uses the red bladed one given to her by Luke in ambush at corellia in the NJO...

Not meaning to nitpick, but I believe Leia has a green lightsaber throughout the Thrawn Trilogy, which she uses off and on until Luke builds a new one in the Correllian Trilogy. Again, not trying to nitpick or start a huge debate about it .

Nope, I was just looking over the end of the Last Command the other day which is why I have this on the mind and why I have the book handy (I was pretty bored, so I was looking through some of my old SW books which haven't seen light in awhile ).

Dude, if I had as many lightsabers as Leia does, I'd sell a few of'em on Ebay.

 

F_L - OKay, that's some good evidence that I forgot about, having not read TLC in five years.

But I recall her lightsaber being blue in HTTE and the HTTE sourcebook, and it certainly was in the comic adaption. ( But then again, Luke's was blue in the comic adaption. )

 

Sturm- I think there was a quote awhile ago at the official site about how different artists in the EU will have different interpretations of characters, events, ect. I think this particular situation is one of those times .

 

That's true, but I coulda sworn that Zahn himself described it as blue in HTTE...Too lazy to look, but I'll take your word for it for the time being.

 

I don't feel much like looking through HttE either (too damn hot ). It's not like Leia's lightsaber color is a life or death situation here .

Couple problems with that. First, her stealing one from Palpatine. Indeed, she does take one from him, but not from his "stash" of lightsabers. These he keeps in the cloning facility. The one she took is actually seen hanging from the holocron table. Second, the blade color being red. Leia never ignited this lightsaber so we have no idea what the blade color could be. If, infact, she uses the stolen one in issue 6, then we can clearly say it's more likely to be a blue blade, not a red blade, because during the duel the blade is clearly shown to be blue. However, if the color is supposed to be reflective of the cover art, then the blade is actually green. And if this is the case, Palpatine is actually useing Luke's lightsaber and Luke is using one from Palpatine's "stash". Luke regains the lightsaber after the duel.
