    What do you dress as? I was deciding between the Rebel Legion and the 501st, and for the formal costume, I can't think of much I could do for an Imperial costume. If I'm understanding the 501 rules, you're supposed to do an accurate character from the movies before doing EU characters. You don't really see female Imp officers, and the only female Sith that comes to mind was Asajj Ventriss from the Clone Wars, if that counts.

    you can do ANY legion approved costume as your first costume (be it EU or from the movies or from books)..

    if you are looking for EU - go to the flagship eclipse boards for more info.. www.theflagshipeclipse.com/forum

    the list of costumes that are approved is available on the 501st site (www.501st.com)http://www.501st.com/crl/index.php

    yeah.. you do not have to start with a movie costume, there are lots of ladies with only mara jades, asajj, etc costumes.

    There's also nothing saying you can't do BOTH clubs! :p

    And you don't have to be a face character, btw. I'm finishing up my Royal Guard.

    Lesley will strangle me if I don't finish this costume by the end of the year. I've only been procrastinating it for 2 years. :p

    If that is true, I wonder how those Female Imperial Officers, some girlfriend/fiance/wife of another Outpost/Garrison member got in easily. And the only other 18-year-old in my Garrison is a Female Imperial Officer, and T[r]igger-Happy too from her first troop the previous weekend! [face_laugh]

    And in case you want to know, I wear Armor with another one FINALLY coming up soon. Imperial Officer and Imperial Scanning Crewman had been pushed to later in the year when I can afford the accessories. Ya, dun ask why I can afford Armors but can't afford Rank Bars and Belt Boxes. :oops:

    One reason for me not to join the 501st is actually that I've never found a costume that I think is interesting/good looking. (and then of course the whole being on the evil side thing)

    Eagle, I think she meant you don't seen female imp officers in the movies.

    I am a Jawa. I"m only 5'0 so I'm small enough to pull it off. I'm the only member of Outpost 42 (the New Zealand Garrison) that has a jawa costume. Everyone else is too tall. Some of the members kids have a jawa costume but will eventually outgrow that. I won't :)

    Mara Jade's outfit as Arica in Jabba's Palace. It's gorgeous!

    That's what I'm working on so that I can join the 501st.

    Other "evil" females include but are not limited to:
    * Mara Jade's regular outfit
    * Asajj Ventress
    * Admiral Daala
    * Marris Brood
    * Darth Talon

    Hope that helps!

    Supposedly, some stormtroopers in ANH were women! There are even women who dress as Anakin.

    Greedo (or at least one of the people who wore the Greedo outfit) was a woman. :p

    Another female that's accepted by the 501st (also is part of the Flagship Eclipse) that you don't see often is Viqi Shesh:

    [image=http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/thumb/0/01/Viqi_Shesh_NEGTC2.jpg/371px-Viqi_Shesh_NEGTC2.jpg]

    And also...now with Force Unleashed, there's Juno Eclipse:
    [image=http://www.creativeuncut.com/gallery-07/art/swfu-juno-eclipse1.jpg]

    And like Bassclarinets said earlier in the thread....if it's part of the CRL, it CAN be your 1st entrance costume. If you're interested in both RL & 501st, you can always go Visas Marr as she's accepted in both organizations (is Mara cross-accepted too?)

    I think I read somewhere that Visas Mar was accepted in both legions.

    I had the same problem you have, and decided to put a helmet on it, hehe!

    There are a lot of Storm trooper but only a few scout troopers, well since the scout trooper costume is far way more comfortable, I'm doing that one. We have lady storm troopers over here in Puerto Rico. The other one I'm doing is the Royal Guard, I like red, it's eerie and elegant at the same time, has a danger look and that's how those guards are, and after watching that Lego fan-made movie on you tube ("touch the spear and I'll #$%#@ kill you") I love those guards even more.

    Now, if the 501 ever approves characters from comic books, such as Legacy, then we are talking!.

    Good luck!

    They do approve characters from the comic books. The general rule for a "EU character" is that the character/outfit must be seen in three sources. The 501st had approved comic-book versions of Asajj Ventress before she got in that expanded-pilot-episode-that-was-called-a-movie of Clone Wars.

    Cool. I was under the (wrong) impression that your first costume had to be from the movie. If you can use comics, there are plenty of characters to choose from. I'm not eager to show a lot of flesh, so I'd be more likely to go as Darth Maladi than Darth Talon, no matter how much I like her. Shira Bria/Lumiya would be a fun one to do.

    501st Female here...I were an Imperial Officer (Black), a Biker scout, and nearly completed a Royal guard lacking only the gloves actually. I have a generic Jedi for the Rebel Legion and am working on several Padme costumes. I also have a Jedi Master Luminya Unduli in process. I have Leia's ANH costume and the Celebration gown. The only thing I lack on the Leia's is doing the wigs for both. There are also video game characters that are acceptable...the choices are only limited by your resources and your resolve to complete one.

    I know lots of ladies that wear Biker Scouts and TKs. No issues there. Plus there is Imperial Crewmen, and the Imp Officers.

    On the Rebel side, Rebel Fleet Troopers and Endor Rebel troopers are great options --as are pilots, jedi and nother non-face characters.

    Good luck, and have fun with it!

    I just finished a female Imperial Officer uniform for a friend of mine. :) I've seen a LOT of 501st ladies in skirted Officer uniforms, too - although, the Legion doesn't accept that as cannon, enough of them do it, that it's becoming fairly common. It gives the uniform a really sharp look, if you ask me. Anyway, the uniform I did has pants, and the jacket was a slightly modified Simplicity sport-jacket pattern that's currently on the shelves. If I get pics of her wearing it from Dragon*Con tomorrow (Saturday - so, later today, I suppose), I'll post them here.

    I happen to have a TIE Pilot costume for the 501st. It was one of the easier canon armor costumes to come up with for me. I'll eventually add TK and Zam in the mix.

    You should make a costume you are passionate about, be it EU, a Rebel Costume, etc. But be warned, some garrisons have events where EU costumes can not take part (they call for movie canon only), so sometimes you are much more limited on the events you can take part in with an EU Costume. Well, the exception would be something like an event for Force Unleashed, where they were eager to take anyone with those costumes! It just depends on the event.

    And if you have a budget or desire for more costumes, you can always make a 'Rebel' or 'Republic' costume for Rebel Legion and be part of both groups as Miana mentioned. Or as some have already mentioned, choose a costume that is accepted by both groups like Jawas, Tuskens, Clones, there are other creatures and the aforementioned EU characters that swing both ways too :)

    Thanks for the clarification. This is probably what I was thinking of, and assumed that it was for events in general.

    Out of curiosity for female Imperial Officers, where are you getting boots? I've found a lot of potential sources, but most are for men's boots (and my feet are fairly small).

    I kept my eye open on used equestrian boots on online auction sites. The rubber ones are great but I wanted proper leather ones as mine are multi purpose and I will be using them with some Victorian hunting kit as well.
    If you go for rubber ones look for Aigle ones as they are a well known brand.
