Question on TIE Pilots in ANH

Does anyone know the story on these silver markings on the helmet of these TIE Pilots

This pilot is seen shooting at Luke and destroyed by Wedge.

There is another one but didn't take a screenshot of it. But that pilot shot down the maroon helmeted pilot, don't know his name.

 

umm, those are just images of the logo for the Empire.

 

QFT. Those symbols are the logo of the Empire:

 

I thought he meant the stripes down their nose, which the third one doesn't have and I never noticed before (that's not just lighting, is it?)

 

those are just the lights reflecting off of the glossy black helmet, I think, and not actual stripes.

 

It's also the sybol of the Republic.

Interesting... those have to be stripes. I never noticed them before. You can really see it in the second picture.. look closely and you can see the stripe is clearly defined even though there is a glare over it.

Eight spokes for the corpulent Republic, six for the villainous Empire. Please try not to make this sort of common error in the future.

 

Butt, I hope that was just a slight miscommunication and you did know the difference between the Imperial and the Republic Seal. Otherwise...

Notably, Anakin's fighter already has the Imperial symbol at the beginning of ROTS.
You'd think the Jedi would have caught that....

So they were all star pilots at Yavin and all rookies at the other battles? I want to say that explains why the Empire lost.

 

All the good pilots died at Yavin, duh.

but did those Widow's Tears ever get an in-universe explanation, or is Theron the first person on the planet to notice them since the props department and camera/lighting crew?

If most of the pilots who initially took part in the Battle of Yavin were killed, why didn't the Rebel Alliance send in more pilots? There seemed to be a good number of them at the medal ceremony in ANH's last scene.

 

Not enough ships is my guess.

I was waiting for it to get locked as soon as someone said it was the Imperial insignia.

Remember, the Imperial seal is different from the Republic seal because it looks like a gear to represent industry and all the happy workers the Empire has exiled to Siberiooine.
