Did anyone else get the feeling they've seen Liam Neeson do and say all those things before while watching Batman begins. Everything from the way he was standing to the inflection in his voice reminded me of Qui Gon. There was even a point in the scene where they're training with swords on the ice where I just wanted to scream out "Be mindful of the living force young padawan!!!"

I can't be the only person who noticed this.

I think that this can go into the existing Batman Begins thread.

It also reminded me of Qui-Gon, at first I didn't recognize him, then I was like ooooh.

Yeah, I noticed. Anyone notice in Kingdom of Heaven? He wasn't quite as severely QGJ in that one, but it was still noticeable.

I think it's partially the roles they're giving him. He's always playing a mentor to the main character nowadays (I can't speak for his pre-TPM stuff though).

I kinda preferred Ras'al Gul to Qui-Gon. By the time of BB, Liam finally got the mentor thing down pat. And he's a good villain too.

He actually says "Be mindful of your surroundings" in BB.

Am I the only one who went into this film with high expectations and walked away soured beyond explanation?

I feel the director has the best intentions, but the film was lacking something I can't quite put my finger on.

Here's hoping the inevitable sequel is eons better.

I too was also a bit let down by the movie. The whole vapor thing made Batman Begins look a bit Batman Forever.

Some of neeson's roles I can think of pre-TPM

Darkman and Oscar Shindler in Shindler's List... of course

Liam Neeson definetely reminded me of a Qui-Gon Jinn that turned to the dark side.

He's plays an awesome villain btw, Lucas messed up by not putting him in 2 and 3.

Qui-Gons philosophy affected every person on earth. and it shows in other films as well. just shows you that quigon was a great character that even other movies are using him.

Some SW fans will, unfortunately, always see the SW character in the SW actor. Liam's done a lot of different roles and this just happens to be one of them. I thought he was awesome in BB, but then again he's awesome in pretty much everything he does. The whole training thing is likely to recall SW to the fan's mind, I'm sure. It did to me a little bit, but mostly I just liked the character in BB himself.

Hilarious, i thought the same thing kind of...

I liked Batman Begins...but couldnt help but think "star wars"...
I think Liam is awesome in both BB and TPM, but the dialogue was very similar to star wars dialogue.
Even if it wasnt liam acting, i still wouldve thought..Hmmmm ive heard this all before

the whole begining- i felt like i was watching one of the star wars flicks...lots of Empire/yoda-ism type references about anger and stuff, and the whole be mindful of your surroundings ect ....

I think it was the dialogue and action as much as the fact that Liam was playing the part too...

I totally got the feeling i was watching a star wars movie...

the whole plot to Batman begins seemed like a rehash of Star Wars/ The Da Vinci Code with a little batman in there for good measure...

But yeah, especially with Liam as the actor, i definately got the "star wars/Qui Gon" feel in the "training scenes"

Just before Ras Al Ghul is about to die on the monorail, he closes his eyes in meditation, just like Qui-Gon did when the ray shields went up in the duel on Theed.

That's why I think Ra's isn't dead. It was a little nod to show that he's still alive, because in EP1 Qui-gon essentially achieved immortallity through such a feat. And Ra's is, to a certain degree, an immortal. I think in part 3 of the series he'll return and we'll go further into his backstory, and perhaps even see Tailia.

Are you kidding!?! Batman Begins is the greatest Super Hero movie ever made! Granted it doesn't have a whole lot of competition, but it's still an outstanding film! Also as much as I love him, Liam was only the second best thing in the film. Although he was perfect for the character of Ra's Al Ghul, he was completely outshined by Christian Bale, as he should be.
Unlike every installment before it this is a Batman film focused solely on Batman himself and not on screen hogging villians. And Bale plays Batman as he never has before, giving him real depth and character and actually makes us believe that the Bruce Wayne character, were he real, would actually don a batsuit to fight the criminals of the city. Liam Neeson was a perfect Foil to Bale as the cold calculating Ra's, but he was still outshined.
