Sorry, I know this might be better off in the games forum, but I figured someone here might be able to help.

Can you use PS1 memory cards in a playstation 2? (for ps1 games)

Or do you need a ps2 card ?

I looked and couldn't find this anywhere so any help would be hot :)

    Okay thanks. :)

That is what I thought as well. Oh well, FF origins will have to wait for the summer :(

I'll leave this open for a few more minutes in case anyone else has something to say. But soon I will locxk it.

You can play PS games on a PS2, but you need a PS1 memory card to save them. The two types of save games aren't compatibal.

ps1 games can be saved on either card, ps2 games can only be saved on a ps2 card

Why would you have to wait? PS1 memory cards are a dime a dozen now. :p

EDIT: Either early or later PS2's must have that capability because I've never been able to save a PS1 game on a PS2 card.

I just meant that I can't take my PS1 back with me to school tomorrow, since there simply isn't enough room. So if I can't save my games on the PS2, there is really no point.

Since there have been some differing opinions, I will leave this open a bit longer...

PS2 format software= PS2 products only. If its not labeled Playstation2, it won't work on the card.

i know for a fact that you can atleast USE a ps1 card in a ps2, since we dont have a ps1 but we do have a ps1 card that we have used! so ha! you can use your card, but not for ps2 games
