I'm trying to throw together a Quinlan Vos costume for the Vegas Comic Con. I have everything else set except for the hair. First of all, I can't decide whether his hair is dredlocks or just long hair that's a little nappy. Some artwork can look either way. Also, depending of which it is, where can I get a wig that will suit that purpose? I was at K-Mart a few weeks back and it seemed like they had a lot of different wigs. Would department store ones work, or should I go to a Halloween specialty shop? I don't want to spend too much money on it, it's just a quick costume anyway.

It's really just a quick thing to throw together. I'm using my old Jedi costume for the outer tunic, it's a tannish brown in color. All I really need is the hair, and I'll probably whip up a new hardware saber beforehand. I'm not trying to be accurate or anything, but I will have the arm wrappings that he wears with the Jedi costume. I think it'll look cool.

I would definitly say that its dreads, I also was looking for a wig with dread locks. I am thinking of doing a Twin from Matrix Reloaded so I was going to try and find a Dread lock wig however I am finding no luck at the Haloween stores, they have 'em just with Jamacan hats or bandanas not just plain dread locks.

    Forcebewitya!

If you can't find a dreadlock wig, go to Target and get a long hair black wig. Take it home, put it on a head dummy (Or some equally functional stand) and then take some soap. Bar or liquid kind, doesn't matter. Wet the hair (needs to be on a stand so it hangs properly) then take sections that together would make a good sized dreadlock. Rub the lathered soap into the hair with the motion used to start a twig fire (rubbing palms together quickly). This creates t he dreads and when the soap dries, you can't even see it.

IMPORTANT Don't dreadlock the hair all the way up or else the wig bas will show and the dreads'll be ruined. IT's supposed to look like the hair starts to dreadlock once it reaches 2 inches in length (roughly).

The benefit of this... it works for real hair too. Washes out with shampoo and leave in conditioner to make combing easier.

Thanks a lot, FenigDurak. That actually sounds like something I could do. Thanks everyone for your help, I think I'll hit the stores this weekend and see what I can find.

DH, I know how protctive you are about your hair, so I reccommend that you and SC test it out once just to be sure you're ok with the whole process.

FD, I told him about your idea, I wanted to try it before the Con but we didn't. I didn't want to do it at the Con because if it looked bad then he would have to wash his hair & start from scratch. As most of you know that have posted here, we are always running on Sith time anyway, didn't want to hold us up any longer then normal :D
