ST R2-D2, C3PO, BB-8 in Episode VIII

A lot has been discussed here, however three important characters roles for Episode VIII were not mentioned so far yet.​

R2-D2 & C3PO went along with Star Wars since Episode 1 and BB-8 is the cute little enrichment that immediately found a place in the heart of every Star Wars fan.​

What is expected to happen with them, what will be their role?​

Well, Moore's Law would have put both of those droids out of work between TPM and AOTC. They're doing pretty good after 60 years of service!

Hey everybody!

BB-8 was quite undoubtably one of the best new characters in The Force Awakens. He was funny, cute, likeable.. even some of my friends, who aren't SW fans, fell in love with him. The body language and the sound effects. All in all, a great character. Even though officially owned by Poe Dameron, BB-8 spent most of the time in the movie with Rey and Finn.

What do you think his role will be in the future episodes? Everybody knows he carried important information for the Resistance in TFA. How can he be useful in Episode VIII? Will he be a sidekick to Poe again, his owner.. or with Finn, even? Cause Rey is, of course, far away with Luke. And how many "fun" moments will he have? I would certainly like him to add a bit of humour to the movie, even though it was supposed to be "a lot darker". What are your thoughts?

 

I'm hoping for it to be the comic relief character. An import innovative character that makes us laugh

& aslo like R2 may be able to come to the aid at vital times-turning off trash compactor, fixing hyperdrive etc

 

i'd like to see him steamroll a small alien who is up to no good.

 

I want to see him and R2 go at it for attention. I can see it now lol.

 

I really hate that new droid.

 

It is unlikely that BB-8 has thrusters like R2-D2, so a built in parachute is most likely what we will see if BB-8 ends up airborne. Episode 8 should reveal other surprising capabilities as well.

 

I don't want him turning into go go gadget BB8. Let's just see tools and equipment that make sense for a mechanic droid.

 

Agreed. R2D2's sudden ability to do...anything he wanted, at any time, was a bit jarring. Let's keep BB-8 heavy and grounded.

A few hundred little nails stick out of his ball and he becomes this horrific leg shredding machine.

Which new droid? I'm only seeing BB-8 here. Did I miss something?

 

BB8 joining the evening crowd in Dubrovnik planet night event, decked out in a tux and cape.

 

He just needs a top hat and a bow tie.

 

I can just hear him whistling Putting On the Ritz.

 

He apparently has more gadgets contained herein so I'm hoping for something else nifty, but they've already hit the grappling hook, lighter, electrical input shocker thingie so aside from parachute dunno what else he might have.

 

I want to see him get destroyed. Not cause I hate him, but because that would make for quite a sad moment

I'm hoping for some comedic banter between BB8 and R2. I was hoping for that in TFA, but of course R2 was asleep the whole time...
