I could be mistaken, but I thought I remembered reading somewhere that there are no weather patterns on Coruscant due to the planet's completely artificial surface (i.e., no oceans to deposit water in the atmosphere, etc.). How, then, is it raining quite forcibly during the scene in RoTS where Anakin is being taken into the Imperial Medical Center?

Probably another case of Lucas CHANGING HIS MIND. [face_liarliar]

Seriously, though, cloud cover can be seen back in The Phantom Menace, the first film in which Coruscant was properly visualised (i.e. not counting its first appearance in the 1997 ROTJ SE montage). In Attack of the Clones, the clouds are even more ominous and the skies are dripping with intent. Clearly, and despite whatever claims exist to the contrary, Coruscant had its share of weather patterns.

I prefer to rationalize that there still are oceans, rivers, lakes, etc., they've just been redirected into widely dispersed reservoirs. In Jude Watson's Diary of Queen Amidala (yeah, that's me, always taking out the HEAVY ammo :)), Padmé states that the natural features of Coruscant had been built over, not fully destroyed.

Also, some areas might have artificial lakes from this groundwater. Maybe there's one under the Opera House. (I know somebody must get that reference...)

There are seas on Coruscant. A huge one somewhere.

They probably need them to pump water around, blah blah blah.

Isn't the sea the artifically created Western Sea?

It also rains there in Chapter 20 of Clone Wars, although that's EU so it may not count.

Seeing as how there are clouds, it's not so far fetched that there might also be rain

In this Ralph McQuarrie painting of Coruscant from the book "The Illustrated Star Wars Universe" published in 1998, reads that there is snow on the polar ice caps of the planet, that is melted to supply the planet with water! [image=http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/9109/275od.jpg]

I was thinking about that too. And since all the planets resources were used up, no oceans. So how can their be all those clouds in the sky during the Jedi Council scene where Anakin was on the council?

    Good Stuff

I've read in one of the books, most likely one of the Jedi Healer books, that Coruscant weather is controlled so you know when rainy, sunny or windy days occur. I believe atmospheric conditions are artificially controlled. Why, I cannot say.

They are not controlled, the planet has a natural ecosystem, under all that city is also a crust with soil and a it also has a live core!

It was raining along with a lightning/thunderstorm in ROTS when Palpatine's pre-lambda shuttle and two pre-tie-fighter escorters landed on Coruscant and were off to the Immolation Medical Chamber..... on a deviated note.

It rains people's sweat? Give me a break. That is scientifically impossibe. I don't think Lucas intended the rain to be people's sweat either.
