Star Wars Rebels re-introduced us to Grand Admiral Thrawn. Accompanying his return is a chilling new theme for the Star Wars music glossary. 3:50 and 5:59 For a track which was orchestrated rather than synthesized, follow one of the below links.Thrawn's theme begins at 44 seconds. https://soundcloud.com/user-240053429/thrawns-orbital-bombardment youtube link (contains a clip without additional audio from an episode, so spoiler warning) Spoiler
Sounds like the royalty-free stock music you'd find on the 10th page of a search for "haunted house music"
That was actually very close to what I thought: Halloween music! Anywhoo, that being said I do like it. The only reason I wouldn't rate it higher is simply cos it seems a bit....simplistic, for a theme. The underlying harmony is simply two notes up and down and up and down.
It's interesting to hear a new musical take on Thrawn. The theme sounds a little generic to me, to be honest, and not quite evil enough for Thrawn, but it does have a certain charm. For comparison/historical interest, Thrawn had another theme way back in the TIE Fighter game: And if you'll forgive my mentioning it, I also wrote a Thrawn theme for my Heir to the Empire soundtrack, which can be heard at 2:49 here: http://hep.bu.edu/~slinden/Music/HttE/01 Main Title and Thrawn's Meditation Chamber.mp3
It's not going to be iconic Star Wars music anytime soon, but I like the theme well enough. A little understated, but that somehow seems appropriate to the character.
Not only should you ask for forgiveness, but I hope others follow your lead and share their music compositions here (the way fanfic lit and art is shared here). And so you don't have to feel the shame of self-promotion, here's a link to your entire Heir to the Empire score in a rar file here Going to listen to it right now.
