From the Star Wars Books Facebook page:

    See here

Could be interesting. I'd like to see who are writing the short stories.

My reaction to this is the same as the rerelease of Heir to the Empire.

I've already got both books so they'd have to be real good short stories to make me buy them again. And I definitely wouldn't go for hardcovers!

If they're paperbacks: Cool, I liked the novels and would like a new story. I there are new covers, I'm definately in.

If they're hardback: Ha, ha, nooooo. Nice try though, nice try.

A little annoying to have to buy a book I already have just to get a new short story. Though I usually prefer hardcovers, I'd like it better if these were paperbacks. Guess Shadow Hunter's new short story will be another one about Darth Maul, probably by Reaves, but I wonder what TPM's bonus story will be about. And who's writing it.

Apparently it's not "anthologies don't sell", it's "anthologies sell but we'd rather get $80 from each buyer instead of $8". Jerks.

So, does the TPM novel still have the EXACT same ending?
Or has that deal been altered to further accomodate the CW-show?

Better yet, will the short story show us HOW Maul survived?

The paperback of darth maul also came with the short story Saboteur. Does that mean the re-release will have two short stories?

    I love that book!

I'm also disappointed that the Darth Maul Special edition won't be available in hardcover...

Good novel. Odd that it got the snub, considering it was specifically written as a tie-in/lead-in to Episode I. But I guess LFL has rediscovered Darth Maul's value as a cash cow.

I hope they actually write a pre-AOTC novel about the Separatists to tie in to the rerelease of Episode II, rather than rereleasing The Approaching Storm. Labyrinth of Evil can stay though :D

A few years ago they released Labyrinth of Evil, ROTS, Mand Rise of Darth Vader as a trilogy book.

It would be cool if they did that with Cloak of Deception, Darth Maul Shadow Hunter, and TPM.

I NEVER want to read The Approaching Storm ever again though![face_shame_on_you]

    Cover: http://www.theforce.net/latestnews/story/Darth_Maul_Shadow_Hunter_ReRelease_139128.asp

It's okay I guess but the original was much more interesting. I'm pretty tired of Photoshop covers at this point.

I loved Cloak of Deception, it's the only book Excellence and I would agree on. It's a brilliant political thriller with a twist you'll never see coming.

And yeah, I wanted a Seccession Crisis novel, involving Padme as senator....five years ago now?

This. Leeland Chee will probably have to make a last-minute retcon that the melting pit Maul fell down was actually a carbon-freezing pit that kept him in hibernation through to the Clone Wars. :p

I think the new cover is very nice, and miles better than the original, with it's three floating heads randomly Photoshopped together.

Nute would fit right in on the cover since he was in about as many scenes as Maul was. :p

In all seriousness, I love the book and the new cover isn't half bad. I was hoping for a more original piece but it's good for what it is.

I loved The Approaching Storm. :( A little surprised at all the hate for that one. I'm about to give it a re-read; I'm re-reading Labyrinth of Evil right now.

As far as a re-release of TPM, I might do it if they offer a Kindle edition. I already have the hardback, I doubt I'd buy a re-release just for the short story. If they'd offer the short story only for the Kindle, I know I'd buy that, but I'm not anticipating it.

I do want to read Cloak of Deception though.

I'm reading it right now, it's great. Luceno is really great at writing SW.

That cover strikes my empire as being wholly uninspired and completely unimaginative.

So yeah, calling it an "EPIC Fail" suits me just fine.
