Full Series Rebels 2.14 - Legends of the Lasat - Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

So about Hondo's role in this episode, it seems like he may just be a cameo....

 

The preview mentions that Lasats have a special relationship to the Force. I really liked the Dagoyan Masters from TCW as it introduced another Force-Using tradition besides the Jedi and the Sith, "A strong connection to the Force, the Dagoyan Masters have. Yet unlike the Jedi or Sith they are. Warriors they are not. Intuition, knowledge, the harmony of the universe is what they sense. Passively they connect with the Force."

Hopefully, there is some mystic high jinks in-store!

 

Didn't the Miralukah in the old EU have a special connection to the force as well?

 

Hairdo on the old woman Lasat reminds me of Old Daka,lol.

 

I am intrigued about this episode. When I found out its name I had to look up on Wook was a Lasat was (I forgot Zeb was one) so it appears it'll be a Zeb-centric episode which should be cool since we don't know much about his past despite how much we see him. They have a lot of room to work with so hopefully it's good.

 

I have a feeling this episode is going to be god awful

 

It will be interesting how they reconcile Zeb's status as an elite honor guard and leader with his adolescent goofball personality. Maybe its his way of burying his emotions?

That picture looks like Granny Lasat is farting and everyone else is beginning to notice

 

Hera seems oddly okay with it.

 

I like that we'll be seeing more Lasat than Zeb on the show and possibly get to know more about the Fall of Lasan.

 

Think it would be interesting if we learn that Lasan was targeted BECAUSE OF its Force heritage. Perhaps they fought back against the Inquisitorius when they came to take the Force-sensitive children, and then more Imperials had to get involved, and then finally the ISB was annoyed enough to decide to make an example of the race as a warning to others. To me, it's very intriguing how the Empire pretends on the surface that the Force is irrelevant, but the existence of the Inquisitors and the priority on hunting Jedi says otherwise.

 

I am really excited for this episode but I have one fear. In the promo, grandma lasat (aka lasat Yoda) is channeling the force in some way and Zeb appears to be doing so as well—what with all the glowies emanating from his bo-rifle. I am a sucker for mystical stuff like this, but I hope Zeb doesn't have some sort of 'awakening' and become a regular force-user. There are already two force-users on the Ghost. A third would make Kanan and Ezra's contributions seem less special IMO.

 

I'm loling at Zeb being able to use the force right now.

 

ICAM. I like Zeb but unless they make this episode awesome it seems kind of underwhelming. What I'd ideally like is that we learn about his past as what was it...a captain? And maybe get some info on Lasan. Even at that, unless they make it really cool it won't have much impact. I think, like with Sabine, leave us wanting to know more.

The Lasat call The Force "the Ashla." Interesting...

 

darklordoftech Yeah, I caught that too. Ashla according to EU lore is IIRC the light side of the Force in general, and was the name of the Force in ancient times

In the second draft ANH screenplay, the light side is called "the Ashla" and the dark side is called "the Bogan." The EU used these names for the ancient Jedi and the moons of Tython.

 

Really looking forward to seeing some more of Zeb's backstory. And I'm curious why Zeb is hesitant about these two Lasats. It'll be cool to see the interaction between Zeb and the former captain.

 

What's the reason for that anyways?

 

Hopefully this one steps up the game as a lot of this series feels like they are just trying to fill time.
