Is that Gold Leader to the left of Mothma? Sure looks like it could pass for him in 'Rebels' form:

This episode was freaking fantastic!!!! Rebels has been on a streak of good episodes.
The Rebel fleet at the end had me ecstatic! That Mon Cala cruiser has me interested. The Y-wings vs Tie Defender is probably my new favorite dogfight in the series.

Unfortunately they didn't get MacInnes in for this in addition to his Rogue One duties. He's played by Yuri Lowenthal (who does a great job anyway) in this episode.

Wasn't an Rebels episode (or more) meant to be written by the Rogue One director? I would if this is one of them.

I'm saddened. This could have, and probably should have, been an amazing episode. But I was really disappointed.

Whilst this is clearly one of the most important episodes of the show so far (in terms of the wider plot), I just didn't feel much tension or excitement during the action, which is a shame because it was the first proper introduction of the TIE Defender and Y-Wings in action for the Rebellion. I feel like they missed some key emotional notes when each Y-Wing was destroyed. It's like even the Rebels don't care anymore when their own pilots die. Compare that with dogfights in Season 2 when the loss of nearly every A-Wing pilot hit home the significance of their losses. Now, they're getting destroyed willy-nilly like TIE Fighters. This squadron existed to showcase the power of the TIE Defender, but it just fell flat to me. Same with Pryce, Thrawn and Konstantine - their scene together just didn't keep my attention or interest.

The only part I found truly tense was waiting to see what would happen to those Star Destroyers that got caught up in the gas explosion. But even then, just... nothing really happened. And there wasn't really any oomph to the scene or the aftermath. I guess they build Star Destroyers to be robust, but even so... (side note: having seen the mid-season trailer probably didn't help this in fairness, as we know that there are more scenes incoming with Pryce).
This is probably one of the first episodes in a while where I have felt like more than 22 minutes would have really helped. It definitely seemed like it was on a super tight schedule and with more time, we really could have gotten more out of everything that was covered. As it was, there just wasn't enough time to sell the impact of each key scene.

But, that said, there were some things I liked. I've always liked the out-of-action moments in Rebels when the characters get to interact with each other and there were some good moments, such as exploring Ezra and Hera's relationship (nice to see she's been teaching him some l33t piloting moves!) and also how the other Rebel cells view the Phoenix Squadron - it was refreshing to see that not everyone holds them in such high regard for the daring things they've done. It gives us a new and different insight into the Rebellion and makes other groups like Saw Gerrera's band not seem so out of place. We got some of that in Rogue One too admittedly with Cassian and General Draven's questionable morals. Seeing stuff like this makes the whole Rebellion more interesting and blurs the lines between what one would naturally assume is just another "good vs evil" struggle. Other characters on the Empire's side like Galen Erso, Agent Kallus and Lieutenant Lyste have helped this further. I like the idea of Phoenix Squadron and the Ghost crew in particular being seen as mavericks within the Rebellion since we largely just get the stories from their own perspectives in this show. And let's be honest, they are a peculiar bunch.

I also appreciated seeing the return of Vult Skerris as a continuity nod. He's the new Baron Valen Rudor from Season 1 and the character shorts and I hope we get to see him again in the future.

The other main thing I liked was finally getting to see the rallying cry for the Rebel Alliance to stand together. Not much more to say other than it's nice to get a canon version of it and I'm sure we will get to explore the formative years of the Alliance in more detail in future episodes and seasons.

All in all, this episode was a mixed bag for me. Unfortunately the stuff I enjoyed didn't do enough to overshadow the fact that the action was just boring. I can't see myself coming back to rewatch this one in full again any time soon. But, I do acknowledge that it is a very important episode for both the show and the wider Star Wars lore. I just wish they'd done a better job of it - perhaps instead of merging the TIE/D showcase and Mon Mothma forming the Rebel Alliance into one episode, they could have been separated out and allowed both elements to be explored in more detail. What we got was an underwhelming mix of the two which didn't work for me.

Same vest, voice sounds sort of similar, sort of looks like a younger version of him with no facial hair. And he's gone by many names as a rebel spy

    I didnt care for it.
Mothmas speeches are basically a rehash of what Ezra said, just more pretentious. Its like only the Rebels come out've the woodwork after hearing a big speech on the TV. They reduced Ezra to a "kid", meanwhile all he accomplished since Season One was basically dumbed down to a pee-on. Its like his Jedi-skills just vanished, whatever piloting skills now come from entirely Hera. Its not clear why these Rebel pilots brow beat Ezra, who himself is reduced to lousy dialogue and kid antics, who are they compared to him, he also got them the Y-Wings. Just cause some are movie characters, they should not create such an elite class nonsense level dialogue and the cliched "you can fly with me anytime" stuff at the end The Imperials were dull and dim as ever. Two Star Destroyers was the best they could do? Thrawn predicted their whereabouts before they got there but he entrusts the mission to a Governor who so far as proved ineffective, why not have proper logistics and plan in place to trap them. Why is the Ghost too immune from damage or the hero escapism is long past its expiration date. Come up with something better already, start making the Rebels die already, not talking green shirt throwaway nobodies. Why send in one Tie Defender, what happened to the Tie Advanced v1 models that set for mass production on Lothal a few years prior, or even XX-23 S-thread tracker missiles ? Why doesn't the Empire deploy more elite pilots on the job on such high priority and special missions. Why keep sending the same goofball incompetent commanders and pilots that cannot shoot to save themselves. Why keep sending out groups of 2's or 4's that easily get blasted down. Star Destroyers do not seem to deploy anymore fighters than the Imperial freighters. Why do they have only one Interdictor or Light Carrier in this silly series?

Why would Cassian guard the chancellor of the alliance of the republic ? Cassian was a ''dirty'' rebel soldier, who makes dirty works for the rebellion, he isn't suitable for guarding Mon Mothma.

I loved it, mainly because they finally introduced Mon Mothma in the rebels series and the alliance is beginning to take shape. I love the character to bits, she's extremely underrated.

The speech was great, though it felt like the formation of the alliance was too easy and too boring.
