Well this is exciting. https://gizmodo.com/star-wars-reign-of-the-empire-books-alexander-freed-andor-2000480472
Cool. I've been mixed on Freed's books, but I think this plays to his strengths and the parts of his books I've liked. Glad to see different authors joining the mix, too
Yeah, I think Luthen, Saw, or Vel would be particularly well-depicted by Freed. Bail and Mon might suffer a bit, but I'll give him a chance
Oh, how intriguing. I especially wonder how this might overlap with Andor season 2. And in general reconcile the different depictions of Mothma over the years. But yeah, mostly very exciting stuff.
Both Alexander Freed and Rebecca Roanhorse's return to SW storytelling are most welcome. Gotta imagine this is going to satisfy folks looking for Andor tie-in material. Perhaps we will learn more about Mon's enjoyment of watervine peaches?
Awesome. Freed immediately sprang to mind as an ideal choice for this sort of story, so very happy to see he's doing one of them. Roanhorse, also very solid, and I thought Fran Wilde did a great job writing Mothma in her FACPOV story, so likely another excellent choice.
Wonder if Shakara Nuress from Alphabet Squadron will appear there, she served in the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars and welcomed the establishment of the Empire.
Yess, finally early Imperial politcs and birth of the Rebellion behind the scenes. I hope the canon the deleted scenes in ROTS and we get some Padme mentions. Just saw on x/Twitter yess we getting into the delegation of 2000.
A novel that will explore the politics of the Imperial Senate written by Alexander Freed ? Sign me up ! Now I want to see Mas Amedda be the main antagonist of Mon Mothma and the Separatist Coalition mentioned in the Andor series
I hope so. He’s an underrated character and given that Palpatine no longer presides over the Senate after becoming Emperor, it makes sense to have him in the story
if Mass Amedda is in it maybe it will convince me into buying into the head canon that he's Darth wyylok I
I feel Freed is good at developing a story but doesn't always make the most interesting characters to read about. The fact that he will largely be working with already existing characters should alleviate that a bit.
This is awesome news -- Freed has been one of my favorite "new"/Disney-era authors. He doesn't write generic stuff that's been done a thousand times, and his characters often don't fit predictable stereotypes. This trilogy should be a wild ride.
