I've encountered this problem before - the camera says "Remove the Casette" or "Eject". Happened once on vacation, I removed it and replaced it a few times, and it started working again.

This time, for a short movie spoof, it stopped working - I haven't gotten it to start working again since (back in December).

I've consulted my GL1 manual and it says there might be something wrong with the tape. I don't believe so... but who knows

    Anyone with experience on this?

i'd love to get this stuff back - we took hours to do some fight scene - and i've put the whole project off because of this production freeze.

It happens to me...usually I just eject the tape, blow it or shake it, then put it back in, fast forward a bit, and it works fine.

now when you say you "blow it" - do you actually flip open the cover and blow the magnetic tape? or you just kind of blow at the cassette? i've done a little bit of tapping, shaking, and blowing... doesn't seem to do the trick. one of the problems is... I can't even get any motion in the VCR mode because it keeps flashing "EJECT EJECT EJECT" and won't let me play, rewind, fastforward, etc.

i'm trying to find a way to manually wind the tape with screw drivers or something.

Do you have a Sharp camcorder?

I flip open the little cover and blow. My camera is Sharp; sounds like a trait that goes with the brand.

"I consulted my GL1 manual...." (from my first post)
which means... it's a Canon camcorder *surprise surprise*

Anyways - i fixed it; used to pen to latch onto the cassette wheel pin and then used a fat screw driver to turn the video "reel" on the cassette. Popped it back in, and worked.

I think it was a batch of bad Sony cassettes. I bought a really cheap batch of 3 from Fry's. 2 out of the 3 tapes have given me this problem. I usually use Panasonic cassettes and have no problems with them. But now I'm not going for regular grade Sony tapes again.
