I do believe there had been a thread floating around a while ago for this film, but it has most likely been lost in the depths. As such, I thought it might be fitting to make a new thread, given that a bit of clips from the film were officially released only several days ago.

For those who have not yet heard of this, the premise is loosely:

Anddddd here is the teaser trailer:

Personally, I am rather addicted to the movie already. It will most definitely be a cult classic, despite that it's only being released in something like 11 theaters in the country.

Maybe I should have become a dentist or something so people would like me better.

Feel free to spam this youtube link, we are trying to get it as one of the most active youtube videos for publicity (which this film desperately needs)

I will give you a cookie for each comment you leave on it.

I'm sad it's been getting more ****ed over release date wise than Midnight Meat Train was! However, apparently one of the screenings will be in Vegas . . . So even if it doesn't open up here, so far I've got one friend willing to drive with me over to Vegas to check it out. Maybe at least one other person will see it too!

This article is worthwhile to read if you're interested in it, and its situation at all: http://www.dreadcentral.com/story/repos-lament

I'm jealous. :( But I'm happy it's picked up a few advanced screenings now . . . Hopefully this will help it out. :)

    Depressing article.

Seriously, this is a movie unlike any made, and would definitely be a hit if they only gave it that chance. I'm afraid that I'm probably going to have to travel 5 hours to NYC to go see it. Which sucks. It should be everywhere.

It's going to be even harder getting a hold of that Pavi poster that they're holding out on us.

That article makes a great point about horror films. Hellraiser is more of a cult hit than anything else for example. Perhaps blood and gore will always remain outside the mainstream and suspense horror gets the go ahead.

I place a large part of the blame for that on the horror audience. It's a well-known maxim that horror movies, no matter how bad, tend to turn a profit if they're made cheap enough. The crappiest of movies will make money as long as there's some good blood and gore (and perhaps sex), and this feeds into the genre's already trashy reputation. Producers don't feel a need to spend the money to add quality to their films, quality projects are lost in the mix, and the regular movie-going public becomes convinced that the genre is just a bunch of garbage. If hard-core horror fans were more discerning, producers would have to take notice, and horror's overall quality and reputation would improve.

EDIT: When I refer to "hard-core" fans, I'm referring to both convention-attending types who follow the industry closely, and the people who just rent random movies because they look good and gory.

I would so watch that. Pity that the closest they'll commit to saying it'll come is Toronto, ON. This is the kind of film that would do really well at the State Theater in Ann Arbor. That's like 15 minutes from here instead of 5 hours.

I should call them and start hassling them. :p

So . . . Who else is keeping up with every little detail? I'm a member on the boards so I can keep up with site updates, new screening info, etc . . .

And so . . . Yeah. Anthony Stewart Head in the Legal Assassin feature on repo-opera.com? Awesome! I'm super excited cuz they had the "17" feature for awhile, then uploaded the video clip- The same deal for "Mark It Up." So maybe in the near future they'll have the full "Legal Assassin" video online. :D

Also, if you don't know this . . . You can purchase all the sample songs at the main site right now! I'm super excited for the soundtrack to be available Sept 30th (even more than I'm excited for SH 5, ha.)

My birthday is on Sept 20th . . . So I might spoil myself with some REPO! merchandise. Wahoo! :D

I actually keep forgetting about it. But if I can go see it I will. This is like the worst film distribution ever.

    Yes I am also a poster/chatter on their forums/chats.

As far as the music, you could buy it, or else you could you know...just download them all off of myspace, as a repo fan has uploaded them all. I don't think it's been pulled down yet. And unfortunately the soundtrack that's being released is far from the full thing, which saddens me.

Merchandise - I'm waiting until they release the Pavi promo poster. They've got almost everyone else's out so far, but no Pavi yet. :(

Am I the only one who thinks this looks like pure **** or do I just have really bad taste? :(

Edit: I revise my opinion after seeing the actual trailer and not just a clip of Paris Hilton.

    My bad.

Looking around on the site for where it will be. I'm guessing that Chicago will be the closest for me. At least that's not really far.

The more I see of this the more I find it wickedly fun.

With the movie needing so much support, I can't really feel good about ripping them off this early on- Especially if they're only asking for $5. That's not even a dollar a day for a full week. :p
Hey, the full thing will be available Sept 30th. That's more than a month before the movie's release date (and possibly more than three months before most people will be capable of seeing it[DVD release in January.]) And it's gonna have more music than they were even able to fit into the movie. :)

Aaaaand as I mostly know Bill Moseley from Devil's Rejects . . . Yeah, Luigi fangirlism = scary. But the actor does seem quite charming from interviews and stuff. Course maybe it's because he's become such friends with Nivek Ogre so Ogre's radiance is often reflecting off of him now. ;)
[face_laugh] I'm actually starting to find her interesting from her interviews etc. Plus she's pretty hot all dominatrix'ed up with her two schmexy manslaves. She's playing a character who is a brat that can't sing . . . So I'm interested in seeing how it goes. (Actually, did you watch the Mark It Up vid and that's what you preemptively judged it on? I think the Largo children are all supposed to be the comedic element, so NONE of them are supposed to be able to sing, ha.)

But I hope they take full advantage of Sarah Brightman's vocal capabilities . . . From everything they've shown so far, it seems like it's less opera-y as the stage play . . .

I'm excited to see how they have Sarah Brightman do Chromaggia's Lament, which is clip five here. [face_dancing]
I know what you mean . . . I think along with being fun, it's also being a big creative inspiration for me. I just like collaborations, I can tell that a lot of energy is going into it, I love that there's such a big mixture of things? And then I'm just a horror and gore fan.

    And a Giles fan.

    And an Ogre fan.

And a Poe fan. And a Bauhaus fan.

    Eeeeeeeeeee. [/geeking out]

The soundtrack for September 30 is only going to have a few songs that we haven't heard yet. It will be the pre-thing that we already have with just a few more. Kind of depressing.

Btw, Terrance just wrote on my myspace - I was under the impression that it was only being released in 10-11 theaters, but he told me 5-10?!? FIVE?

Granted it could be worse, at least in the worst case scenario I can go to the NY showing. But still. Five.
