Notes: MY FIRST PIECE!
I am posting this separately as well as putting in the challenge thread to give some of the writers that I follow a chance to critque a story mine. It's only fair. I thought after all the time Ive been enjoying their stories, it was time for me to contribute. This story is probably predictable and I dont claim write near the quality of the writers in this Forum, but I do hope you find it enjoyable!

One last thought- picture Ewan singing in Moulin Rouge as you read the verses!

Your Song



?That boy will be the death of me,? Obi-Wan muttered under his breath as he looked around the crowded bar.

Siri pushed past a drunken patron and turned towards Obi-Wan and said, ?don?t worry so much Obi-Wan, he?ll be fine, you?ll see we?ll find him.?

It was way past midnight and the Karaoke bar was crowded and noisy.
This was the third bar they had looked in and still no sign of the wayward teenager.
Obi-Wan sighed, gently shook his head and headed towards bar.

? Where are you going?? Siri asked.

?To get a drink.?

Siri rolled her eyes. ?Well that's not going to help the situation.?

Siri followed Obi-Wan to the bar and pulled up a stool next to him. Obi-Wan shook his head and started to speak as another out-of-tune female began to sing.

?I don?t understand, this is the third night this week Anakin has snuck out, despite my best efforts.? Obi-Wan rubbed his fingers over his gingered colored beard and then reached down to pick up the drink the bartend had put in front of him.

Siri snorted, ? Its not like it?s hard, you?re so predictable. All he has to do is wait until you go to bed - which is promptly at 22:00 by the way- get the spare key you have hidden in the bureau drawer and quietly leave the apartment. Really Kenobi, you need to use a little imagination when hiding your keys. How about under your mattress, its not like you?re the princess and the pea and Anakin might be a little hesitant to tiptoe into your room while your sleeping.?

?I am not predictable,? Obi Wan stated with indignation.

Sir looked at Obi Wan with amusement ? You?re as predictable as the rising of the sun Kenobi.?

?Am not.?

?Prove it then, ? Siri challenged.

Obi Wan sputtered and decided to change the direction of the conversation.? I shouldn?t have introduced him to Sabacc.?

Siri shrugged her shoulders noncommittally and leaned over to make herself heard.
?If not Sabacc, he would have snuck out for lower levels racing. Obi-Wan, I really wouldn?t worry about Anakin, this is the environment he grew up in, he feels comfortable here. He can handle himself,? she stated firmly.

Siri smirked and lifted an eyebrow at Obi-Wan. ?Besides I know of another errant padewan that would sneak out from time to time.?

Obi-wan acquiesced that Siri was probably right, but if it were Ferrus stealing about Courasant in the middle of the night she would be more than just a little concerned.

Just at that moment, Siri watched a Gammorean walk into the bar and stop to converse with a humanoid near the door. The Gammerean, who was known as Huld, knew the lower levels of Courasant like the back of his hand and if any questionable activities were going on, he would know.

?I?ll be right back,? Siri said as she stood up and headed towards Huld. She was intent on getting a little information that might be useful in locating Anakin?s whereabouts.

Obi-Wan?s eyes followed Siri?s movement as she made her way across the bar, his mind wandered back to the distasteful comment Siri had made.

I am not predictable, he thought in annoyance.

?You?re as predictable as the rising of the sun Kenobi,? he could hear her say.

Ever since they had been young padewans they had bantered back

 

Ahhh! This was very sweet, and well-written. And Anakin running off to play Sabacc was a nice touch!

Sweet. I always feel so pained with Siri and Obi-Wan, totally unfair that they couldn't be together. You really did well with that.

Very rarely was Siri ever caught off guard, but the surprise of seeing Obi-Wan totally out of character left her momentarily in shock. As the surprise wore off, Siri went through a series of reactions. At first, she found Obi-Wan?s singing humorous, almost embarrassing, but then as she watched Obi-Wan sing, to her she realized, she felt herself soften.

Sighs happily...what female wouldn't??

Lovely! Absoulutely lovely!

 

I don't think I hear this song without hearing wan singing it now.

A most lovely response to the challenge. Siri's a very lucky girl.

 

What a totally cute fic! Whenever Ewan sings that song in Moulin Rouge, I always think of Obi-Wan. Him singing to Siri was just too adorable. He does have a beautiful voice. Great fic!

 

Oh I just love that song! And having Obi-Wan sing it is just perfect!

I really liked this. You really captured Siri and Obi-Wan's character. Well done!

Rebelgrl: Thank you for your encouragement to post and your support. I did notice I had a few spelling errors and apparently that included Sabacc. I always thought that teenage Anakin would basically be drawn to most everything that he probably shouldn?t be. Not that he is rebellious just that boundaries to him would be relative.

ZaraValinor: I am flattered that you checked my story out. There was so much I could have done with this but decided to keep it simple. I always enjoyed the flirting between the two and it is sad that they couldn?t give in to their feelings in cannon. I tried to end it on a happy note though.

Valairy_ Scot: Thank you for the rose! I hadn?t thought about those lines reflecting Obi-Wan?s personality but I guess it really did. I picked that song because I loved Ewan?s singing in Moulin Rouge so I wanted readers to picture the way he sings as they read the verses and that song was a karoke type song that spoke to me.

VaderLVR64: Thanks for the praise, coming from such a prolific and amazing writer it means a lot to me. I am a huge fan. As for that whole section on Siri?s reactions I must admit it came completely from the first time a handsome man sang to me.

LilyHobbitJedi: I read and enjoyed your songfic Come What May using the other really great song from Moulin Rouge. I guess great minds think alike! Yes, Ewan does have a beautiful voice. But what I really like about watching him is the passion and the light in his eyes as he sings! * sighs* I?ve been wanting to write an Obi/Siri fic for a while, they are my favorite pairing.

Anakin Luver: I am glad you enjoyed it. I basically think it is not Obi-Wan that was played by Ewan but Ewan is really Obi-Wan. I love Obi/Ewan?s singing and will find any and all opporunity to have him do so.

This has been a positive experience, one I will have to do again thanks to all of you. If there are any Siri/Obi shippers lurking leave a note I want to hear from you!

Kelia: Thank you for reading! I am glad you enjoyed it. Obi-Wan and Siri's relationship stayed in the flirty teasing stage since they could not get serious. I think Siri loves goading Obi-Wan and look what she got in return!

Ahh I love how he sings that song! Wonderful story, I really enjoyed the Obi/Siri banter (believe it or not this is the first story with Siri I've ever read! And it was great, she seems like a real fun character!)

Well, this was my first reading of anything Obi-wan/Siri. I loved it! I had to turn on the song on my computer while reading, which made it great. I don?t know enough about Siri to say anything about how you?ve written her here, other than I loved it! She DOES seem perfect for him. My only complaint is that they had to return to ?reality.? Your characterization of Obi-wan was first rate and dead-on IMO. I would indeed be bothered by such a statement as being ?predictable.? While I find it a bit disconcerting that Anakin would sneak out to play Sabacc ? or race ? teenagers do crazy things. And you needed a set-up for this great scene!

awwww... Obi sang to Siri... that is too sweet and adorable... I can just picture Ewan acting like that and like you actually said, Ewan is Obi-wan... I loved this... Anakin running off is a great addition to the story...
