Regardless if Rey ends up being the granddaughter of Padme or not it is hard to deny that Rey does look pretty similar to Padme. Do you think that is just a coincidence that the actress they liked for the role of Rey looked fairly similar to Natalie Portman or do you think they purposely set out to find someone who did look similar to her? If for nothing else just to add fuel to the fire of the Rey parentage theories.
They probably weren't looking for someone who resembled Natalie Portman as closely as Daisy Ridley does, but they might have been looking for someone who could pass for a Skywalker... and just so happened to hit the jackpot.
I think the major thing is that they purposely set out to get an actor who looks like a Star Wars female hero. The template was set by Lucas with Leia and he did it again with Padme (plus of course she was Leia's mother). That they did it again for TFA is totally deliberate I would say and Jyn Erso isn't exactly a huge step away from that either.
Jyn definitely shares a few traits with all three. When will fans of the Mara Jade look get there fill?
I clicked on this thread because on the index it read "Rey and Padme physical" Nah, Ridley does look like a cross beween Portman and Knightley. I've got an idea how that might've happened, doubt it's accurate though...
I think its a coincidence- but it works. I also like how Adam Driver has brown eyes, like his mom and grandmother.
No. Both characters require athletic looking actresses for the roles. Any facial similarities could be coincidental. We won't know for sure if it's not, unless we find out they're closely related. We will never know for sure if it is, unless one of us is JJ Abrams
