...since 1989. On April 24th, he will have been in there for 19 years, and his recent reelection means he'll surpass his father of all people as the longest-serving Mayor of the Windy City, unless he resigns or dies...

Think about that.

Richard Michael Daley has been mayor-ing longer than a lot of you have been breathing.

 

I do not live in Chicago and therefore am not interested in the mayor of Chicago unless he does something particularly ridiculous or immoral.

 

Chicago, like the entire state of Pennsylvania, is an arguably corrupt political machine. This, save, the shining light, our leader, the greatness, most pure, His Excellency, Barack Hussein Obama, who shall bring them both to heel.

 

Vote early, vote often!

I wish NYC lifted its term limits and let Bloomberg run again. Hell, I'd abolish the city council and make him Emperor of NYC.

Perhaps corrupt, but yes or no, I feel confident Chicago has got the mayor it deserves.


I just wish the state would follow Federal laws reguarding tolls on interstates.

 

The mayor of NYC can run and be elected more than two terms, but not consecutively. So Bloomberg can run again after his successor's first term has finished.

You've got to be kidding me. I hope this is just hyperbole. If not, I may have to start agreeing with jello about the danger of Obama to our democratic-republic.

But as has been said, Daley for the most part has been rather good for Chicago. He'll win his next election for sure unless he falls ill or there's a scandal. I just wish he would be Mayor if (when) Chicago gets the Olympic games in 2016. Unfortunately his term would have expired by that time and I doubt he'd run again after his next term in office.
