    Actor John Spencer, who played Leo McGarry on tv's The West Wing, died on Friday of a heart attack at age 58. (Eerily enough, his character suffered a heart attack in the previous season of WW). He has been in film and tv since first appearing in The Patty Duke Show in the early 1960s.


    WW was on a break half way through filming the current season (in the US), in which his character was campaigning to be vice president to Jimmy Smit's president.

    Series 7 i believe.

    Its a sad thing, i was very upset when i heard the news. I love the West wing, and leo was abrilliant character that John played to perfection.


    hes an actor that will be sorely missed

    I had enormous respect for the man, playing the character of a recovered/recovering alcoholic when he was a recovered alcoholic himself.
