Roan Shryne's fate in "Dark Lord"

I just finished the book and I'm not sure if I missed it or what, but what exactly happened to Shryne? Last scene that I was aware of was Vader standing above him on a crumbling platform while Kashyyyk was burning down.

My guess was Vader either killed him with his lightsaber or he fell to his death.

What did I miss?

 

IIRC, he died from the wounds Vader gave him after they fought and he had his vision of ROTJ.

 

So after Vader revealed everything did he strike him down with one fatal blow or he just left him there to die? Am I correct that it was left a bit vague as to what exactly happened there?

 

IIRC, he describes his vision, and then expires.

 

What was the ROTJ vision again? I cant remember...

 

I do not have that book anymore so I cannot look but I seem to recall reading that passage over a few times trying to figure out the result. I thought I determined that Vader took a moment to Relish in Shryne's shock and killed him in one fell swoop (Force or Saber....either way) before he had to move on. If anyone knows not to leave an enemy to die in a fiery accident after being badly wounded....it's Vader. With what he ended up revealing to Shryne....he was not going to leave the guy with a breath of life inside him.

I know that Shryne was dying internally and Vader revealed himself to be Anakin Skywalker. I agree it was unclear, but I recall believing that he fell to his death. The vision Shryne had, he mistakenly thought that it was as he was dying but in actuality it was the battle of Endor and Vader's redemption that he foresaw.

On another note from the this book, what happened to climber? Vader wanted to kill him, and instead climber ran off, seemed kind of stupid for it to go down like that.

 

He had a vision of a huge explosion in the sky of a forest world.

 

It doesn't say whether he fell down or eventually succumbed to his wounds.

 

Just realizing what an ugly name that is, Roan Shryne.

 

I knew Vader didn't strike him down. I'm unsure as to why people think he fell, though.

Vader wanted to kill him, and Climber escaped. For now.

 

After Vader kills Starstone's master, he scans the crowd for the other two jedi. when he starts to go for Starstone, the Clone Commander tells him that Climber and the other clones had been captured. Climber ran, firing shots at Vader. Vader reflected one, that caught him in the leg. Slowed him enough for the rest of the troopers to catch him.

 

Come to think of it, If I'm Roan and I go down with that knowledge and that vision, I'm really thinking the force is a load of bantha fodder. "Hi, I'm the chosen one. I had my arms and legs cut off, was burnt up, and stuffed in this black suit. I am all angry and evil now and I am going to kill you." If the force was telling me anything at this point I would have had to flip it the bird.

That's right after Shryne explains his vision. Presumably, he died of his wounds after telling Vader "the Force will never die".

 

I've always wondered: how do they pick SW names?

 

I think it's cool "roan" actually means red, as in a red horse.

 

Eye chart. Darts. Trained monkeys.

 

Anagrams, a hat and bits of paper...

 

Trained badgers sounds funnier.

Just saying. Badger-- it's a funny word.

 

Then I'm sure this is hilarious.

 

Yeah, but badgers just don't have the physiology to throw darts. Maybe trained lemurs?

 

It's fantasy, it doesn't have to follow Earth science.
