'Robot Chicken: Star Wars' sequel in works
Network will premiere second episode on Nov. 16

    By Nellie Andreeva

    July 23, 2008, 12:00 AM ET
"Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II" is a go. Days after the Adult Swim show landed a best animated series Emmy nomination for its "Star Wars" episode, the cable network is moving ahead with a sequel that will premiere Nov. 16.

"It doesn't even seem real -- getting to make Star Wars twice!" said "Robot Chicken" co-creator Seth Green, who is set to direct the second "Star Wars"-themed episode after winning an Annie Award for helming the first one.

Many members of the voice cast from the first special, including original "Star Wars" actors Carrie Fisher and Billy Dee Williams -- reprising their roles as Princess Leia and Lando Calrissian, respectively -- are back. Also returning are Seth MacFarlane as Emperor Palpatine, Conan O'Brien as Zuckuss, Breckin Meyer as Admiral Ackbar and Boba Fett, and Ahmed Best as Jar Jar Binks. Green will voice several characters, including Ponda Baba. Joining the voice cast this time around is Andy Richter.

As for the creative direction in the sequel, "we decided to focus on the bounty hunters a bit and explore their stories," "Robot Chicken" co-creator Matt Senreich said. "It's a geek-fest for us all."

"Robot Chicken" hails from Green and Senreich's Stoopid Monkey Prods. and Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico's ShadowMachine Films.

The first "Robot Chicken: Star Wars" special was released Tuesday on DVD.

A sequel! Oh great. I thought the first one was super original and really funny. It's funny on its own and even more hilarious to all of us who get every single joke being made.

    That's good news.

    Looking forward to it.

My favorite scene from the first one is re-take of the ANH Cantina scene. I fell of my couch.[face_laugh]

Wasn't that when they were commenting on how nice Luke's hair was? [face_laugh]

    Thank Heavens!

The parody people are about the best field of Star Wars material these days.

Leia's comment after her tryst with Luke was the classic line from Robot Chicken. Plus, the Ackbar cereal was a major win.

QFT! That scene on Robot Chicken goes down as one of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV. [face_laugh]

And this is some awesome news!

"Padamala or Panda-Bear or whatever the hell her name is....Oh he's crying!" - [face_laugh]

That skit with Palps is why I thought this was funnier than Family Guy.

I had never seen an episode of Robot Chicken before (don't have a dish or cable) and I thought this was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. I watched the show, then all the bonus material, then I watched the show again. It's that good. I'm going to have to check out RC Season 1 and 2 on DVD.

I am so pumped for this! The poster looks super awesome, too. I can't wait to see their turn on the best ever SW movie ever, Empire Strikes Back. I feel like such a nerd whenever I watch the first one, and I get jokes that aren't even visible to the non- SW fan.

Garth, don't feel embarassed. Just make up for it and see it. As a fan of the franchise, you'll literally have some laugh out loud moments.

I wish the Star Wars special would become available on iTunes. I'll probably just buy the DVD.

GARTH, yeah, you'll have to see it. It's fantastic.

The entire Holiday Special can be viewed in all its glory on YouTube. And yes, it really is that bad. Very, very, very bad.

Of course, the one thing we want removed from YouTube gets to stay.

Carrie Fisher's singing on Life Day is so bad it's actually funny. I wouldn't want it removed.

Isn't it still available in it's entirety on SW.com's video section?

It's available at Adult Swim. It's not that long of a duration. I hadn't seen it sice last year and so after talking about it yesterday, I decided to watch it again. I was still laughing out loud at almost everything.

Your mouth can't repel taste of that magnitude!!!!! [face_laugh]

    This just made my day.

Now to go watch the first one again in honor of it! (And because I haven't seen it in awhile...)
