There's no dedicated thread for this yet, so I thought I'd go ahead and make one. To get discussion started, here's the info that was provided on the official Star Wars website, as well as the announcement video director Patty Jenkins shared on her Twitter account.
It'll be interesting to see what direction she takes this in, but no matter what it should make for good viewing.
Yes, as the guide wires and production crew move the ship in a super cool manner leading to massive fan-gasms when it hits the big screen.
This will be an interesting film. I wonder if we'll get to see any of the old pilots from Legends (Pash Cracken, Tycho, Hobbie, etc).
I would love that too...or at the least, have it take place right after the events of ROTJ, taking on remnants of the Empire. Perhaps similar to the Legends books. The only thing possibly disheartening to me is that the announcement says "move the saga into the future era of the galaxy." I don't know if that's an official quote, but to me that sounds a lot like it might take place after the events of TROS.
Exactly Oh, and today it's exactly 31 months!! Okay, I'll chill for now It just occurred to me that a brief appearance by CG-face Luke is a very real possibility if this takes place during or right after the Civil War. Since he was the original Rogue Leader, it would only be logical for him to pop in at some point. It wouldn't necessarily have to happen though, as he left the squadron before ROTJ (I think), but you never know! Also, Hera Syndulla might be in it. Played by Gal Gadot?
