    This link got me thinking about the idea.

    [image=http://www.jefflemire.com/ROM%20SPACEKNIGHT_jeff%20lemire.jpg] [image=http://coolkits.net/Rom.jpg]

    ROM was a toy made by Parker Brothers and a Marvel Comics character from the 1980s. He was a cyborg who fought a hostile extraterrestrial race known as the Dire Wraiths.

    If they ever make a ROM movie, I hope they get the same people who did the toy commercial. This is the most dramatic toy commercial in history: LINK

    You realize that the spin-off franchise material would have to have titles like

    ROM: The Spaceknight: The Movie: The Novel

    or

    ROM: The Spaceknight: The Movie: The Game

    Or, godforbid it becomes popular enough to kickstart the series again, lest we get the circularly titled

    ROM: The Spaceknight: The Movie: The Series

    Which, if it ever results in a feature length film, would have to be called

    ROM: The Spaceknight: The Movie: The Series: The Movie

    Why would Rom get his own movie?

    I actually have the first 10 or so issues of the comic. In a box somewhere in my parents' attic. I'm guessing they're not quite as valuable as, say, the first 10 issues of Spider-Man.

    I never had the toy growing up, but ROM was my favorite comic book, especially Annual #2 as it featured other Space Knights. If they did make a movie on this character, they would have to update his look. The mittens used for hands, just isn't practical and the Volvo box armor is so 80's.

    ^Was that the one where Rom returns to Galdor, but an other Spaceknight (called the Terminator) had taken his identity?

    Nope, it wasn't that one.

    Here's a Blog I found about ROM Annual #2 that sums up the story better than I could:

    SISKOID'S Blog of Geekery

    Rom Annual #2 takes us back a couple centuries, before Rom left for Earth, before even the Dire Wraiths left Wraithworld. The Spaceknights were at their apex, and Rom was the greatest and most famous of them all...

    ... Let's join the story already in progress, all those years ago, as Rom bears down on a Wraith armada.

    ... After he blows up a few ships or starts sending their pilots to Limbo, the witches send those huge Deathwings to eat him up. But this is Rom in his prime, baby!...
    [image=http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6xoH967aC00/Sc7GJw9kUlI/AAAAAAAARVo/K-lSuWz_pDQ/s400/roma2-2.jpg]

    That's three in one shot! Cutting their losses the Wraiths run back to Wraithworld...
    [image=http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6xoH967aC00/Sc7GJ9pjYyI/AAAAAAAARVg/UYPRuPaBLhI/s400/roma2-3.jpg]

    ...Wow, cesspool. Corrosive atmosphere, disturbingly-shaped mountains, a black sun... Rom follows the last ship to the Wraith capital and makes it crash into their fortress.
    [image=http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6xoH967aC00/Sc7GJsbRMsI/AAAAAAAARVY/_imFkBu-eas/s400/roma2-4.jpg]

    ...From there, it's a simple task to banish the entire civilian population to Limbo. EVIL civilians, of course. And since it's Limbo, you can't call it genocide. Well, you can, but Rom won't let you.
    [image=http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6xoH967aC00/Sc7GEmums4I/AAAAAAAARVQ/Uv2glfVPwCE/s400/roma2-5.jpg]

    He gets into something sticky however when Wraith witches confuse him with the illusion of Wraith masses (or I guess you could call them wraith Wraiths), and abandon their homeworld while he fights phantoms in perpetuity. It'll be up to the Spaceknight Squadron to rescue him.
