San Diego, CA ROTS DVD Release Date

USA Today is reporting on summer movies heading home more quickly than ever. In it is a mention of when Star Wars is expected to land:

"The progression from a summer theatrical release to a holiday video release is a well-worn path," says industry analyst Tom Adams, president of Adams Media Research. "Even late-summer releases will be out in time for the holidays."

The year's No. 1 movie so far, Star Wars, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, is expected to arrive in stores Nov. 8. That was the same week that top sellers Shrek 2 and Finding Nemo came out in previous years.

Haven't we like known this for like a month now?

 

Originally, I think it was slated for Nov. 1st.

Ugh.. November 8th is a Tuesday.. that means our midnight madness event will have to be on a Monday. Well we sure have long enough to plan for it.

 

It would be a Tuesday...all new releases come out on Tuesdays...at least at Best Buy they do....hmmmm And Yes I am still tryin to convince corporate to do something

November 8th is much better than November 1st. If it was November 1st, that means our midnight madness would have been on Halloween... not a good idea.

That would have been both the most disappointing and best Halloween EVER... but I agree, the 8th is a much better date.

'Star Wars' Movie 'Revenge of the Sith' Comes Out on DVD on Nov. 1

LOS ANGELES -- "Star Wars" fans might want to set aside Nov. 1 for a reunion with the Skywalker clan. That's when the final installment, "Revenge of the Sith," hits DVD, allowing fans to watch all six movies in George Lucas' epic at home.

"The great news is, it's nearly 30 years in the making, now fans old and new alike can enjoy the entire `Star Wars' saga whenever they want," said Steven Feldstein, senior vice president of marketing for 20th Century Fox home video, which releases the "Star Wars" films.

Lucasfilm Ltd. also announced Monday it will release the franchise's new video game, "Star Wars: Battlefront II," on Nov. 1.

The two-disc set for "Star Wars: Episode III _ Revenge of the Sith" will include a making-of documentary produced by Lucasfilm; featurettes on the movie's stunts and on Anakin Skywalker _ who transforms into galactic bad guy Darth Vader; and an Internet documentary series featuring 15 segments produced for the Web.

"From the beginning of production, George wanted to be sure we chronicled everything that went into the making of `Episode III' specifically to create an incredible DVD experience," said Jim Ward, vice president of marketing and distribution for Lucasfilm.

The year's top-grossing film with $376 million in domestic revenue, "Revenge of the Sith" completes the transformation of Skywalker from honorable Jedi knight to Vader, the villain of the original three "Star Wars" movies.
