    ok here we go
    red= evil
    purple,green,blue=good.

now i've noticed that a jedi master uses a green saber and a padawan uses blue.. is there any reason 4 this??

    None whatsoever.

Otherwise Obi wouldn't have switched from a blue to a green saber in mid-movie.

It's not necessarily true that only Masters use green. Luke used green in ROTJ and he was far from being a Jedi Master...

Plo Koon is an example of a Jedi Master that uses a blue lightsaber. Kit Fisto is an example of a Jedi Knight that uses a green lightsaber.

obi wan uses a blue saber in ANH. he was a master by then, so i don't think that blue always means padawan

Anakin was the one that used a green saber for a while.

Oddly enough, the prop hilt looks kinda like Luke's in ROTJ.

Obi-Wan never acheives the rank of Jedi Master. He was a Jedi Knight til his death.

I don't think Obi-Wan switched sabres' mid movie. Although Anakin did use a green one in the arena.

"I don't think Obi-Wan switched sabres' mid movie. Although Anakin did use a green one in the arena."

The saber that Obi Wan uses in the last duel is not his. It is a different one that was thrown to him in the arena battle. I think it is safe to assume that the geonosians took Obi's saber after they captured him. [face_mischief]
I just wanted to make that clear since many people seem to be unaware of this.

Here are the lightsabers both Obi-Wan and Anakin had in AOTC.

Obi-Wan's lightsaber. Lost when capured on Geonosis.

Obi-Wan used this lightsaber in the battle of Geonosis. Anakin also used it to battle Count Dooku.

Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber. It was destroyed in the Geonosis Droid Factory

Usually the first person to ignite their lightsaber and/or instigate a duel are the ones who will loose in some way. This is not so much a rule, but an obveservation.

D_Lowe: Well, from a point of view, Luke didn't win that battle. Palpatine's entire plan for Luke during that time was to turn him to the Dark Side, even if it meant killing his father (**POSSIBLE SPOILER** this is congruent with the speculation of Anakin killing Dooku in Episode III, helping his turn to the Dark Side ;) ).

As we can see when Luke releases some anger and has a brush with the Dark Side at the mention of Leia during the battle, and supported by the EU (most notably in Dark Empire, where Luke actually turns to the Dark Side), you can say that Darth Vader may have lost that battle, but Palpatine had won in the bigger picture (not that it mattered since Vader killed him anyways :p ). :)

Ken Kenobi- And you have a nice day ;)

Luke won the battle. It also helped Luke realize the dangers of the Dark Side. Having Luke hack off his father's hand helped him ponder about their first duel a year earlier on Bespin. He recalled the mercy Vader showed him by looking at his hand and then the stump on Vader's arm. Then Luke embraced the Light Side again, and became a Jedi. So the Emperor lost because those actions Luke showed lead to Vader's redemption.

Vader started the battle in ANH. He was waiting for ObiWan with his lightsabre already lit. Obi came up, ignited his and he lost.

He didn't really lose. He gave up. "If you strike me down I shall become more powerful than you could ever imagine."

"Obi-Wan never achieved the rank of Jedi Master. He was a Jedi Knight til his death. "

pffftt..!! petty semantics. The fact that there was no Jedi council to bestow on him the rank of Jedi Master, simply means that he was never called a Jedi Master. It does not mean that he was not one.

"Hello Mater obi wan" hmm all those kids calling him master could mean something.. or is it that they're just children/padawans and are instructed to call him master.

THE_MISSING_TRIPLET: Whenever a Jedi takes on a Padawan he/she becomes a "Master Jedi", and is regarded as such. A "Jedi Master" is an expert of sorts, formally recognized by the Jedi Council. :)

Therefore, a "Master Jedi" is completely different than a "Jedi Master", in context. ;)

But, seeing as Obi-Wan was one of the only Jedi to survive the Purge and the Council no longer existed, it is safe to assume that old Ben was a wise Jedi Master... ;)

Ken Kenobi- And you have a nice day ;)
