The third week of May is going to be very BUSY for those who love Rush (the band) and Star Wars.

Of course, we know that Attack of the Clones is coming out on May 16th.

But for Rush fans, their NEW album, entitled "Vapor Trails," is coming out on May 14th! Their last album came out 6 years ago!

For me, I love the both of them and I will be a very busy man.

Anyone else likes both Rush and Star Wars?

I'm a Rush fan and I'm really looking forward to Vapor Trails. From what I've heard of the album so far, it sounds rather heavy and intense.

Alright! Two of my favorite passions.

Who else is waiting until May 16th to buy Vapor Trails? :D I'm gonna make a great day become an awesome day.

"One Little Victory" is currently out there on the radio stations. Heard it twice so far. I also downloaded the samples of "Earthshine" and "Freeze ( Part IV of Fear )"

Favorite song : "Marathon" ( live, ASOH )
    Favorite album : ASOH
    Favorite studio album : HYF

    Hello again, Kling. :)

I'm SO glad I'm not the only one that loves Rush around here!

    Sturm,

So you're going to get the new Rush album and see AOTC on the same day? Wow! Overload!
I also really the 80's Rush stuff. Hold Your Fire was one of my favorites in that decade.

    Kling,

Yeah the new album really sounds intense. They say there's very little keyboards (if any). So, I guess it's a throwback to the raw 70's sound with a new millenium production quality. Some say it's kind of like the Permanent Waves album.

I like one person who says "One Little Victory" sounds like "Stick It Out" with a nervous breakdown! hehehehehehe

Rush & Star Wars ALL THE WAY!
May is going to be VERY GOOD!

P.S. Do you think Rush music could match Star Wars visuals?

Yeah, GUP to Presto was my favorite era of Rush music. :D

Concerning the AotC visuals...I think that this is a very uncanny match. The new album cover almost looks like the planet Geonosis ( seen in the trailers ), and the song "One Little Victory" almost sounds like some lines of Yoda's at the end of the movie, shortly before he says, "Begun this Clone War has."

My favorite Rush era was the first... From the RUSH album to The Camera Eye. I find it hardly believable that they will turn to that style again (they always search for new tendencies), but hey, who am I to complain ;)

Rush is kind of like Star Wars.

They have musical motifs that run throughout their music. But they always do it in a different "style."

Some people like it, some don't.

This new album will bring back the "old" fans of Rush.

    It will contain Progressive Rock?

Yes. Rush is progressive rock. But usually with a twist here and there. Geddy Lee says he likes Radiohead so there might be some alternative inspiration here.

I love Rush. My friend's brother got me interested in them. I would stay at her house and her brother would play Rush songs on the guitar. He eventually took me to see them in concert. They were incredible. I have seen them several times since.

Tickets for their show go on sale Saturday. :) But my husband and son have their black belt exam that morning So, I may be buying tickets at inflated prices. :(

I've been to 2 Rush shows, they were both incredible. You're not going to see many bands play almost 3 solid hours of music, with an intermission! Who needs a crummy opening band?

Here's a tidbit if you guys didn't know this already - the intro guitar riff to "YYZ" is actually the letters Y Y Z in morse code.

Y - Long short Long Long
Z - Long Long short short

    Intro Riff:

    |-|||-||||--|-|||-||||--

Got Vapor Trails this morning...this album is AMAZING. I've been playing it nonstop. Out at our lineup in Dallas we were listening to it once through ( running time just over 67 minutes! ), and when the media showed up for their nightly fix I waved the CD case around for the camera ( gotta put in my plug ). I joked that if ONE MORE PERSON asks us what we're camping out for, I was going to say it was the CD listening party for Vapor Trails.

Rush and Star Wars: two constants in my life for 25 years!

I have to admit that I'm a late-bloomer when it comes to Rush. I bought the two-disc Chronicles about a year before Test For Echo came out. And I've been hooked since then. Interestingly enough, I play keyboard and bass. I've only heard One Little Victory so far. I can't wait to listen to the rest.

But I have to say, that Star Wars has been with me my WHOLE life!

I bought Vapor Trails! So far my favorite songs are:

    One Little Victory
    Ceiling Unlimited
    Ghost Rider
    Peaceable Kingdom

I guess I've been listening to the beginning of the album too much...

Ok, since everybody here likes Rush, perhaps you might be able to give me some downloading suggestions? =)
