    Waxer, easily.

He was a strong, truly decent guy who we're shown not only cares for his brothers but the random innocents the war harms with its very existence. Who made a point to take time away from the battlefield to see a child delivered to safety. Then, on a lie, he's led into a friendly fire situation where he very likely killed and/or wounded several of his clone brethren, possibly some he knew personally, only to finally be shot down himself. And even then, he doesn't die immediately, but instead slowly and visibly painfully. He's left with plenty of time to realize what he had been lead to do, and come to terms with the fact that he wasn't going to survive his injuries as all the medic could do was ease his pain.

Saddest death in TCW? Continuity. No, either the countless children that died (ie. by Maul's hand) or Tarpals; Tarpals died incapcitating a war criminal, and that war criminal was later handed over to the enemy. So vain!

Waxer, for pretty much everything that Mia said and that one single tear that really sold it. And Echo, for the fact that they had the time to stop in the middle of the mission to cremate Piell but nobody seemed to give a **** about Echo dying (except for a brief glance at Fives mourning quietly to himself).

I saw this thread title and thought Waxer & Satine immediately but JackG makes a good point - Tarpals' death was extremely sad. Simply because of the atrocity that occurred after his sacrifice - it is the one episode that makes me so angry that I feel it in my bones - and not just because of Jar Jar. I know that Grievous couldn't be captured for good to facilitate the plot of ROTS, but they could've done something like what they did with Gunray in Bombad Jedi/Cloak of Darkness - instead he's freed b/c Padme decides to choose Anakin over ending the war?!?!?!?! really??? it makes that "she would do her duty" line in AOTC absolutely worthless!!! Ughh. That episode - its the one episode I skip over every time I watch through the entire series...makes me sick

I keep thinking of a death but then I'm like "but there was (whoever) and theirs was really sad too" and I'm not sure what qualifies as the saddest.

Waxer's death in CoK. It's the combination of his backstory (Ryloth, Numa, Geonosis, Obi-Wan), and how he died that come together to make it so horrible. Either would make it a really sad death on their own, but together it becomes brutally sad.

Satine's death in TL is very sad. Especially when you realize this is now the second time someone close to Obi-Wan has died in his arms at the hands of Darth Maul. It's obvious her death made a deep emotional impact on him that stayed with him for the rest of his life. Evidence for that is the way she phrased her undying love for him as her life faded away "I have loved you always" which obviously stuck with him, right up to the moment he used that phrasing himself when heading off to knock out the DS tractor beam and leaving Luke, Han and Chewie in the hangar control room. "The Force will be with you always."

Kalifa's death in PL. this little girl had been through so much, and had everything to live for, and then BLAAMO! Her life is snuffed just like that. Everything she was or might ever have been, ended in a moment, just for the sport and amusement of that revolting, wretched trandoshan, who has the temerity to somehow think of himself as an honorable hunter. I would have loved to see Ahsoka lose it and momentarily veer into darkness at that moment, just enough to unmercifully choke him to death or even fry him with lightning. Failing that, Chewbacca or one of the other Wookiees should have ripped his arms off - slowly, and one at a time.

Hmm... Echo's death is kinda sad, but this is tempered by the fact that it is just stupid. He tried to block an entire shuttle with his body. What did he think was going to happen?

It should be unsurprising Padme would do that. She's already morally compromised in that she's covering for Anakin's massacre of the Tusken village. Anakin seems to be an absolute moral blind spot for her. It actually makes it surprising she didn't just follow right along with him in RoTS after he became Darth Vader and killed the temple Jedi.

I don't think Padme choosing to save Anakin in this case was "immoral." Emotional, yes, immoral, no.

My vote for the saddest death is Savage. It's the one death in the show that had me in tears.

#1: Waxer. For all the above reasons. The dude literally got killed in the worst possible way: knowing he'd shot and possibly killed some of his own friends, and without even the comfort of knowing the guy who'd caused it was dead. The single tear (IIRC the only tear actually said in TCW–or did Ahsoka cry in the finale?) cinched it. That was without a doubt the saddest moment in the series.

#2: Satine. I hated the pacifist Mando movement, and Satine was a bigger hypocrite than the rest of them ever were, but she was at heart a good woman, and she had done nothing to deserve her fate. Obi-Wan's reaction was so perfect and the whole scene played out exactly as it should've: it was typical without being clichéd, and it was emotionally hard-hitting.

#3: Savage. He was an honorable person before the Nightsisters wrecked his mind. The real Savage, the one who protected Feral, was never a Sith; only the insane monster the Nightsisters replaced him with, and both of them died at Sidious' hands. IMO, when he says, "I'm not like you. I never was..." that was his way of paraphrasing Luke's "I'll never join you." The good Savage came back and realized what a demonic monster Maul really was, and he knew he wasn't like that. At least he got to die knowing he had been redeemed.

My only issue with Satine's death was Obi-Wan talking and talking and talking and talking and talking while Maul was choking her.

    Dude...do something.

But I still found it extremely sad.

I agree. Kind of like how he strutted from Padmé's ship in silence, just staring at her and Anakin while she was being choked to near-death.

But knowing how they loved each other, her death is still sad. :(

He was holding her in a Force chokehold which could immediately become a Force neck snap or Force crush if Obi-Wan had tried anything.

Her eyes were brimming when she thought Obi-Wan was dead in Deception but I don't think there was pouring tears.

    Kalifa in Padawan Lost, easily.

I was so convinced they were going to walk away with a happy ending and then BAM. Wonderful voice acting (she sounds like she's in pain more so than any other dying character on TCW that I can think of), beautiful lighting, and those chilling trandoshan screams all made for one whammy of a closer. It certainly didn't have me in tears (nothing in this show ever managed that), but it absolutely resonated enough that it stuck with me for long afterwards. Poor kid.

The three most tragic deaths in TCW for me were, in order of appearance (but otherwise no particular order), were Waxer's, Satine's, and Savage's.

Waxer's death was emotional because of the sheer horror of what transpired in that moment. Like Mia, Revanfan1 and others have said, it was at that instant that he'd realized he'd been betrayed and forced to attack and kill his brothers, and the 501st clones realized just how far Krell had fallen. It's a quite bundle of emotions. The only thing that kind of blunted the impact for me, though, was how long between episodes that Waxer played a major role. I think before this he was rarely seen to do much of anything since Liberty on Ryloth.

Season 5's most poignant deaths both occurred in The Lawless. Satine's death probably resonated most for me, largely because of the impact it made on Obi-Wan, who incidentally is my favorite character in the series. I think Darth Valkyrus said it best when he said that it was obvious it had a major impact on Kenobi the rest of his life. I had never thought that Obi-Wan telling Luke, "The Force will be with you...always", was his way of invoking the memory of Satine's last words. It really works, and makes this death possibly the saddest for me. Plus, the music that plays during this scene following Satine's final words always does get to me. I even made a rough sketch of the scene where Obi-Wan kisses Satine's hand as he embraces her for the last time.

Finally, Savage's death made quite the impact for the reason that Revanfan1 stated above. I saw it as his moment of redemption, as the instant of his realization that he was never really the monster that his brother truly was, and it made me realize this virtually all of his actions following his transformation in Monster were fueled by the hatred-induced craze of Nightsister magicks. This death brought into the fore the kind of shades of gray that this series often did bring forth when the writing was at its best (typically the Katie Lucas and Chris Collins episodes). That ultimately the parties responsible for Savage's death were those that purported to use him to further their own ends: Asajj Ventress, Mother Talzin, and Darth Maul. Savage was as much a victim of these three as he ultimately was of the True Sith, and Darth Sidious. His life was truly tragic. I also made a sketch of this scene to illustrate the various emotions that occurred, and I really was inspired by the fact that this was possibly the only time in the entire series where Maul shows a shred of humanity, buried deep within and suppressed by his Sith training.

Honorable mention does go to Kalifa due to the impact of her death really upping the ante of the Season 3 finale. Too bad we only got to know her for one episode, but they really made that one count.

Ooh, I forgot this one. Yes, that gave me chills. If the rumors about the Bonus Content's take on Order 66 are true, it'll almost be like a slap in the face to Waxer, 99, Echo, and the others.
