This idea came to me during mid-terms last week, so now that I'm on break I thought I'd work on it :) It takes place after FH1: Remnant, and focuses on what's been going on with Tahiri, and why she was so determined that only Jaina could help her. Hope you all enjoy! :D

The door slid open, and Jaina Solo hurried into the quarters her parents were occupying, her dark braid slapping against the back of her black jacket. Her arrival didn't go unnoticed, as both of her parents turned in her direction, weary expressions on their tired faces.

"Where is she?" Jaina demanded without preamble.

Leia Organa Solo took a step towards her, placing a hand soothingly on her shoulder. "Sleeping. This latest episode took a lot out of her."

Jaina relaxed a little at that, the pounding of her heart subsiding slightly, though the bitter taste of fear didn't leave her mouth. "How bad was it this time?" she asked.

Her mother's elegant features were marred with a deep frown. "I had to render her unconscious with a synapse blast," she admitted quietly.

Jaina sighed, collapsing down onto the couch, rubbing her forehead in frustration. Her mother's Force skills were formidable, but still untested to some degree. That she had used them for such a dangerous task told Jaina just how serious Tahiri's latest episode had truly been.

I should have been here, Jaina thought, mentally berating herself for being off with Jag when Tahiri had needed her.

You can't blame yourself, Jaina, her mother scolded lightly, and Jaina lifted her gaze to meet Leia's. You can't solve every problem that comes along. Besides, you've been working yourself to the bone as of late. You deserve some down time, and so does Jagged.

She was right, Jaina knew that. She and Jag had both been rushing around from one duty to the next as of late, with little time for rest and relaxation, no matter how desperately they needed it. And any time she was able to spend alone with Jag Fel was as precious as it was rare. That was precisely why they had slipped away from the squadron for a few hours to enjoy each other's company.

I know, Jaina replied. But Tahiri is sick. I shouldn't be out having a picnic with Jag when she's like this. I should be here trying to figure out what the stang is wrong with her!

Maybe that's something Tahiri needs to figure out for herself, Leia said softly.

Maybe Jaina acknowledged. But it's not something she needs to do alone.

A smile tugged at the corner of her mother's lips, and Leia's dark eyes shone brightly. She's not alone. She has you, and she has your father and I. And Jacen, Luke and Mara, as well. Tahiri is part of this family. And this family takes care of it's own.

Jaina took a moment to study her mother, the woman who had once been the Princess of Alderaan, who helped lead a Rebellion against the Empire, who helped create the New Republic and governed over it for most of Jaina's life. Leia still had that proud bearing about her, that flawless confidence that gave her unprecedented grace, but this war had weighed heavily upon her soul. She had buried one son, and then for a time lost another. She had watched as her beloved Republic shattered around her, as her family fractured and drifted apart, then came back together again, never to be whole without Anakin. She had watched her only daughter fall deep into the grasp of the dark side, fulfilling every nightmare she had ever had since learning that her father had been Darth Vader.

And now she was forced to watch helplessly as yet another member of their family suffered.

Not for the first time, Jaina was awed by the strength her mother possessed.

"You know, it's rude to communicate telepathically when not everyone in the room is a Jedi," Han Solo drawled, having deduced from the long silence as mother and daughter stared at one another that they were having yet another one of those Force conversations.

Jaina offered her father a weak smile. "Sorry, Dad."

Han waved her apology off,

For a time she had fallen deep into shadow, and that darkness still lingered inside of her, like a scar that she could never be rid of. For a time she had known what her grandfather must have felt, had known that his dark legacy could live on in her.

And Force help her, she had liked the idea.

But that was behind her now, or at least she hoped it was.

That was a great line, JPS! This looks amazing so far, I am very eager to see what you do w/ it! :D

Wowee, this is a good one so far :) You took the idea FH1 conveyed, about Jaina being the only one that can help Tahiri through this, and I am so glad to see you tackling this project, because if anyone can do it justice, it is you, JPS :D

An Irish Blessing

May the Road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun warm upon your face,
The rain fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Happy St. Patrick's Day from an Irish author to all of my readers! :D May your day be filled w/ the luck o' the Irish ;)
