I've been trying (without much success) to clear up the information about the stormtrooper deployment on Tatooine...

Davin Felth's POV in "The Stormtrooper's Tale", which has the troopers arriving by sheer coincidence on a transport, simply doesn't tie up with the statements that they came from Vader's Star Destroyer found in Galaxy Guide 1: A New Hope and derivative sources, or the picture of the landing-party boarding the shuttle on Devastator in the OT Incredible Cross-Sections book.

One version has to be inaccurate, and I suspect (for various reasons) that it's more likely to be Davin Felth's (in short, that his sense of reality has been completely warped by brainwashing/conditioning)...

But more seriously, there's a question of who was in command. "The Stormtrooper's Tale" and the CCG identify the officer in the "Look sir, droids!" scene as Captain Mod Terrik (he's also meant to be the guy who says "Blast 'em!" at the docking bay)...

At first, I was just trying to work out if this could also be the officer who Old Ben mind-tricks in the "You don't need to see his identification" scene at the checkpoint...

... but then something else caught my attention. Commander Praji is told to "See to it personally", and I began to wonder if the comm voice of the officer identified as "Captain Terrik" isn't actually that of Commander Praji himself - same actor; same character?

Wookieepedia seems to think so, with the caption on the pic directly identifying "Captain Terrik" as Praji; but the evidence cited seems less than conclusive....

I was wondering if anyone with a better ear than me had any thoughts, or if there was more information that might help make this clear one way or another...

I wonder if, needing more manpower than the Devastator contingent alone could muster, Praji called on Terrik's Mos Eisley contingent to assist in the search, and Terrik didn't fully brief his men, thus leading Felth to believe it was coincidence.

Well, I've always believed that the guy we saw in the film was Mod Terrik--but then, I cut my EU teeth on Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina and its ilk, so I naturally view newer sources like the VisDic through that lens and the newer ones tend to lose.

That said, jSarek could be right that they both appear, just in different scenes.

I never knew Praji went down to Tatooine's surface. Interesting. It's always good to see the Imperial Officers getting their hands dirty.

jSarek definately seems to be onto something with his retcon.

Does the story indicate what sort of transport it is? Because the videogame Force Commander has the Imperial Star Destroyer Inquisitor arriving at Tatooine in order to conduct training exercises. In the game, Felth's squad is taking commands from Lieutenant Brenn Tantor aboard Inquisitor as part of Tantor's familiarization with the BHCI command interface when Tantor is informed of the events of the Devastator's chase and put on the task of tracking down the escape pod, which was tracked to near his location.

Even if Felth was explicitly not part of the Inquisitor's complement, it does not change the fact that his presence was a coincidence with Devastator's arrival one way or another (local garrison or training exercises) and allows the possibility of local forces/Tantor's squads being reinforced by Vader's detachments.

ANH had alot of characters dubbed by the same actor- IIRC, the voice of the Imperial officer who informs Tarkin and Vader of the report from Dantooine pops up a few times on both sides of the civil war.

    Teh Clones!!1!

But seriously. We know the Empire starting producing clone soldiers from several different "templates". So there could have been several duplicates of this guy running around in ANH, including some individuals that went over to the Rebellion. :-B OK, now I'm starting to scare myself. so, reading Allegiance, I take it that all stormtroopers on an ISD answer to a group commander; I am unsure if Unit Commander is a synonym or a lower rank, but Mara tells the Stormies they should have reported to their unit commander

I take it Praji was the Group Commander for Devastator?

That could make for a good standalone..

Han Solo's time in the Imperial Academy is ended because of what they did to him... took a tissue sample (him being a great pilot and all) to use for TEH CLONE! production.

Now, what happens when Jacen runs into and kills "Han" in Sacrifice, not knowing that it's really Bob Dolo, Moisture farmer from Naboo???

It's possible, but the problem is that DSS-0956 in Galaxy Guide 1: A New Hope describes the troops from Devastator doing what Terrik's unit do in Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina, and CCG identifies Terrik as belonging to "Desert Sands", the unit from GG1...

    Officer Cass? Interesting! [face_thinking]

Is this analysed on-line anywhere? [face_thinking]

Do you have the page reference? On a quick skim, I can only see references to "the senior stormtrooper officer" and to the lieutenant and major in their chain of command - platoon and battalion level?

But perhaps Mara's "unit commander" reference might be more generic...?

There's also the title of "senior officer", used for DSS-0956 in Galaxy Guide I and for Colonel Somoril of the ISB "tactical unit" in Allegiance... [face_thinking]

Well, we know that the text that begins what we now know as Episode IV was written by Lieutenant Voren Na'al (he suggests using it to begin a narrative of the events leading up to Yavin at the end of Galaxy Guide 1: A New Hope)...

... so I'd guess that it indicates that the movie is an "in-universe" artefact of some sort... [face_whistling]

Perhaps the low production values represent the fact that it's made by the Alliance? [face_mischief]

X-Wing Alliance mentiones a "smuggler-movie" about Skywalker and the Death Star...
