Beyond - Legends Set in the HTTE times: Leia and Han struggle to give their babies up for two years

The New Beginning

Senator Leia Organa Solo waddled through her luscious apartment doors after a full days work, eager to get her feet up on Hans big brown couch. It was her last full days work for the next two months. Now there was nothing for her to do but to wait for the birth of her twins, which she hoped she didn?t have to wait too much longer; she was desperate to have her body back to herself. Don?t get her wrong it?s wonderful to feel the life of her babies within her but she missed the simple things of?just being able to bend over and touch her toes!

?Good afternoon, Princess Leia!? C3P0 greeted her excitedly.

?Afternoon, 3P0. Can you please make me a cup of rose tea??

?Of cause, Her Highness, and would you like some refreshments? I have just made some wonderful??

?No, thankyou,? Leia said. ?Just make my tea and bring it too the bedroom, please.?

Leia quickly, well as quickly as she could with such a large belly, walked over to her bedroom to change from her formal senate wear and into one of Han?s shirts, when she though a bath would be so much better. She wrapped her pearl coloured gown over her naked over sized body, and started to set the water screen for a warm, deep bath.


Han Solo looked at his chrono on the Falcon.

Leia should be home soon. Should probably be home before she is.

?Chewie!?

He walked over to the cockpit to see Chewie ready to start the Falcon?s new engine Han had just installed.

?Chewie, let ?er run. Let?s see what she sounds like.?

Just as he spoke the Falcon?s engine roared to life for the first time in weeks.

?Great!?

Chewie roared his relief.

?Yeah I know,? replied Han. ?Paid a lot of credits for that baby. She sounds perfect!?

Chewie turned the Falcon off and placed his long Wookie arms over his head and leaned back giving Han a very satisfied look.

?Shut up, Chewie. Your not the one who installed it! Picking the right one to go in is the easy part. Therefore I made her work, plus I have oil all over me so I deserve the credit.?

Chewie barked at Han reminding him that it wasn?t him that carried the engine for over an hours walk because no taxi-speeder would take them cause of its size.

?Yeah well?listen I got to get back home. Leia will be there soon and she isn?t so keen on having 3Po cooking. His lack of smell made her sick last week.?


Gods this feels good.

Leia leaned back on the soft bath-mattress design specifically for heavily pregnant women with a sigh and let the warm water carry the bubbles up to her shoulders, not quite covering her large belly. The bath-mattress had been Han?s surprise for her when she was six months. She knew there was a reason why she loved him.

?Leia?? Han called through the door.

?Hmm??

?I got your tea,? he said as he let himself through the door and placed her drink on the bench near the tub.

?Oh, thanks. I forgot about that.?

Han leaned over her to kiss her forehead. ?Sorry I wasn?t here when you got home. Was with Chewie at the Falcon.?

?Yeah you smell like it. Did you install the engine??

?Mmhmm,? Han placed a roaming hand over his wife?s stretched belly, making sure the suds where over her navel. ?How was you day??

?Fine. My whole day was just making sure everything was covered for the two months. A lot of walking??

?Honey, you know everything is covered. It?s not like Mon Mothma has just realised your pregnant.?

?I know but I just wanted to make sure?plus I didn?t have anything else to do today. I didn?t know what to do with my self. No meetings, no treaties, I didn?t even have any paper work to do! Nothing to research, no endless calls to return?so I came home??

Han?s hand lifted off her belly and started to undo his shirt.

Leia just stared at him. ?And what do you think your doing?!?

Han chuckled. ?Im dirty and there is a bath with my wife in it. Why wouldn?t I??

CHPT 2

Luke Skywalker landed his M1-16 on Han and Leia?s port next to the Falcon. After just arriving the day before, he was excited to see the progress of his unborn niece and nephew.

Leia must be huge after 2 months! He thought.

As he walked past the Falcon he noticed that the ramp was down letting on lookers know that there was someone in there. From the noise Luke guessed it was Chewie. Only he sang in the shower in the early hours of the morning.

?Chewie!? Luke called. ?Chewie!?

The sound of water stopped and out came Chewie with his fur stuck to his body. He always looked hilarious when he was wet.

He barked at Luke while he grabbed the nearest oil stained towel and dried himself off.

Luke laughed. ?Well good morning to you too! Nice to see you?ve missed me!?

Chewie walked passed Luke ruffling his sandy blonde hair as he went to make him a Corellian kaffe.

?When did you arrive?? he asked.

?Last night, but I thought it would be to late to see you guys?I knew Han and Leia would be in bed early. She needs to safe her strength.?

Chewie agreed handing Luke his kaffe.

?Thanks. So how have things been? Noticed the engine has been changed.?

Chewie shot him a ?don?t start? look and informed him that things were as good as a pregnant woman lets it.

Luke laughed. Leia could sometimes be outrageously impossible while being pregnant. Who could blame her though? It couldn?t be easy carrying twins in your first pregnancy as well as being a petite woman.

?Has she been consistent with her medic appointments??

?Ask Han. He?s the one who?s been tak?n her. He even packed her lunch when she was still working to make sure she always ate something!?
Luke shook his head. ?Those two are unbelievable.?

Just then Chewie?s comm screeched.

?Chewie.? It was Han. ?Chewie, I need you to bring over my good kaffe stuff. Just spilt my last pot on places you don?t wanna know.?

?I?ll bring it up for you. I?m going there soon anyway if you up.?

There was silence. ?Luke?? Han asked. ?What are you doing? When did you get back??

?Last night. Late last night.?

?Well thanks for saying hi. Bring up my kaffe, kid.?

Leia woke to hear voices coming from the kitchen. ?Luke?? she thought. ?Oh how dare no one wake me up!?

She awkwardly rolled over to the edge of her side of the bed, and draped her gown over her making sure everything was covered. She wasn?t able to really wear anything to bed. She hated feeling constricted especially when she was almost due, so she simple just wore her gown around her home. Han didn?t seem to mind.

She walked in to find Han eating his breakfast and Luke drinking what smelled like Han?s Corellian kaffe crap.

?Well hello!? Luke exclaimed as he walked over to her and kissed her cheek. ?I had to look twice there for a second; I though Jabba the Hutt had walked in.?

Han burst out his breakfast in what was meant to be a laugh.

Leia swatted Luke over the head. ?Thankyou! Honestly you have made me feel delighted to have you back, Luke!?

?Sorry, sis. I couldn?t help it. I?ve been practicing that one for a while now.?

?I know! Han clean your mess! I?m not!?

?Yes dear,? Han gave her an apologetic kiss and started to wipe up his cereal.

That was hilarious! and Luke's Jabba the Hutt comment was priceless (as was Han's reaction) Great update!

 

?Have you had some thing to eat, Luke??

?Yeah?I ate before I came,? he replied as he watched his sister fill her bowl full of sweetened cream and topped it off with more sugar.

Leia noticed Luke staring at her. ?What??

Han glanced behind him with a mouth full of cereal to see what Luke was staring at. ?Oh. Luke that?s normal now, so take the opportunity to eat what ever you want in front of her with out her telling you that it?s not a healthy meal.?

?NO!? Leia ordered. ?You still have to have to eat well! I have a very valid excuse!?

?Yes dear,? Han knew when to just agree with her and not press the issue?even when he was extremely tempted to continue teasing her. It would just make baby emotions kick in and it would end in tears, then he would have to kiss and cuddle her endlessly saying he was sorry (even if it wasn?t his fault, it made her feel better when someone said sorry).

Luke shook his head. ?So how are the twins going? They?re due soon aren?t they??

Leia nodded, her mouth full of cream. ?Yes. Even though you should know the due date Uncle Luke, Dr. Mia expects them to come at the end of the third week of this month cycle. Jaina is very active. She will probably come first, because Jacen just seems to be happy where he is??

She rubbed her swollen tummy affectionately.

?We were actually going to do the last of the baby shopping today if you want to join us?? Han offered.

?Thanks, but I still have to give my briefing to Ackbar. But I promise,? Luke replied in a rush, seeing Leia about to have an out burst again. ?I promise I will be here for dinner.?

Leia lifted her chin, as if he needed her permission to give his briefing and have her last. ?Alright then. Well I?m going to have a shower and get this shopping over and done with before my feet and back cramp up.?

 

CHPT 3

Two weeks later?

Han woke up to the sound of running water coming from the bathroom.

?What??

He looked at the chrono on his side of the bed and swore a harsh Corellian word.

?Ïts the third hour in the morn?n!? he groaned. ?What is she doing!?

He walked over to the bathroom and opened it to find his beautiful wife, wearing his shirt, sitting on the stool he bought for her in the shower with her head down and hands on her lower abdomen.

?Leia!? he rushed to her. ?Sweetheart are you all right?! What?s wrong is it the twins??

?Han!? Leia smiled at him sleepily, as he started to gently caress her belly. ?It?s ok. I just started some contractions a couple of hours ago, but it?s nothing to panic about ok? It?s not time to go to the medic centre yet. Ok??

She talked like she was talking to a child as she knew Han would start to fret and panic at this moment, so she wanted him to understand everything she was telling him.

Han looked at her with his eyes as wide as they could get. ?It?s happening now?! I?m going to be a dad now??

Leia smiled at her beloved husband. ?Hopefully soon yes,? she said gently, placing her hand on his neck. ?I don?t really want this to go for too long. The pressure is already starting to turn into pain.?

?Oh honey! Do you want me to do anything? Call Dr. Mia??

?No no. Not yet. Just sit with me, ok??

?Ök.? He replied quietly sensing a little bit of panic from her.

Get a grip Solo! She is nervous enough don?t make it worse! Just focus on what she wants! Holy Wookie I?m going to be a dad any minute now!

Luke woke up to the sound of thunder clapping above his apartment.

?A stormy night?, he thought into the darkness, and rolled over putting his pillow over his head.

Just as he was about to doze off, an unsettling feeling came over him making his Jedi senses come to attention.

?Leia,? he thought.

?Leia?? He waited for a reply.

?Yes, Luke.? She sounded tired.

?Are you ok? What?s happening??

?Yes. I?m alright for the moment. I went into labour a couole of hours ago?I?m ok though.?

A bolt of excitement went through Luke. She?s having the twins!!

?Just remember our training. Use the force as a relief.?
?Yes, I know. Can you call Rieeken and Mothma for me? Just to let them know. Winter is with me now.?

?Of course. How?s Han??

Luke could tell she was smiling through the Force. ?He?s sweet. He?s being wonderful.?

?Good to know. Call me if you need.?

?I love you, Luke.?


Leia and Han had moved from the shower to the couch in their lounge room, after Leia had decided that the hot water on her back had lost its effect as relief.

She was now lying on her back with her head on Han?s lap and her feet resting on the couch arm with her.

Her eyes were close and with Han strocking her forehead for comfort she tried to get as much rest between contractions until the medic hover-van came to get them.

?Luke?s calling Reekien and Mothma to let the know,? she said in a quiet whisper. ?They will probably be at the med centre.?

Han bent over and kissed her forehead. ?Ok.?

Just as he spoke Leia?s face scrunched into a frown. Her neck muscles tensing as she gasped and instinctively brought her knees up closer to her stomach as a helpless movement to ease the pain.

Han?s hand went under her shoulders to support her while his other one rubbed her lower stomach.

?Just breathe. Breathe, sweetheart.?

Leia let out a slow breath. Using the Force to try and help with the pain. Just as quickly as it came it left. Leia started to take deep breathes to calm her head.

?Well done, babe,? Han whispered to her.

?Your Highness?? Winter came in with a serious look on her face. ?The med centre just commed me; the electricity in the storm has disabled all the hover vehicles, but they will send a medic to you.?

?S?cuse me?!? gasped Leia.

?What the blazes!?

?If I may say so, it may be more comforting for the Princess to give birth in the comfort of her home,? Winter rushed in.

?No! What if something goes wrong?? Leia looked at Han. ?Get Luke! Get Luke here now!?

Leia gasped as pain ripped through her back to the front of her stomach. ?OOOH! And get Dr. Mia!?

?Oh, good evening, Doctor,? Mon Mothma greeted the doctor as she came closer to the waiting room of the Solo?s apartment.

?Good evening, Mon Mothma, General Reeiken.? Dr. Mia replied politely. She pulled her coat off and handed it to the domestic droid. ?Quite a storm out there.?

?Yes, it is.?

?How is she going??

?Fairly well,? informed Reeiken. ?We were able to see her for just a moment, but she is strong. A little scared but she would never admit it. She has her Bail?s proud nature.?

?Ah, yes. Well, time to get started.?

?Best wishes, Dr. Mia,? Mon Mothma clasped her hand.

?I?ll look after them,? she responded assuringly.

Leia gripped Han?s hand and grunted frustratingly. Hours had past and she just wanted this to be over. She desperately wanted to see her little babies before Luke took them away. The more time she had with them the better. Dr. Mia had arrived and moved her from the lounge to the main bedroom. It was rather poetic, Leia thought, the place where they were created with love, they were now going to be born in with that same love. Winter was right; she did feel more in control at home.

?ooh??, she groaned, as the pain once again seized her whole body, making ripples through her back to her legs.

?You?re doing so well Leia,? Dr. Mia encouraged. ?Almost there.?

She had long ago kicked everyone but Han out, claiming it was important to give the princess as much privacy to relax as possible. Plus she didn?t want to have to deal with the white faces of Luke and Reeiken. One patient was enough tonight.

?How are you holding up, Daddy?? she asked, noticing Han was a little pale.

Han smiled at her. ?Yeah, I?m good.?

He continued to hold Leia?s hand and stroke her sweaty face with a wet, cooling cloth. His heart was beating a hundreds times a minute. He was excited, nervous, ecstatic and scared all at once. There was a little bit of guilt for making his wife going through so much pain, and it upset him that no amount of kisses on her damp forehead would take that pain away.

Dr. Mia smiled back, knowing what goes through a husbands mind when his wife gives birth. ?That?s good.?

?How much longer?? Leia asked in a tired whisper.

?Not long. I can feel a head?can?t see it yet but I can feel it. Won?t be long.?

?You?re doing really well, sweetheart,? Han said quietly.

Leia turned her head towards him. ?I don?t like this anymore. I want it to be over. I?ve had enough.?

Han smiled and stroked her cheek. ?Unfortunately, we don?t get to decide that, honey. It?s up to them.?

?Can?t a medic transport come now?? she whined.

?The storms still raging, baby. There?s no way they will work.?

?Arghh?!? Leia gripped her husbands hand even tighter. ?Oh, sith!?

?That?s it! Push, Leia,? Dr. Mia encouraged quietly. ?Just a little more??

?Goddess! It hurts!? she cried. ?Arrrrgh!?

?Push, honey. It?s almost over. Push!?

?I AM PUSHING!? she yelled, between clenched teeth.

?A head?s slowly coming! Oh, Leia, this one has dark hair! Looks curly too!? Han informed her excitedly.

?I wanna see!? she exclaimed, through pushes.

?Soon enough, Leia, but push!? Dr. Mia instructed. ?A big one!?

Leia gathered all she could for one push. One push, Leia! That?s all that is between you and your babies! Suck it up and push!!! she told herself.

?Arrghhh! Come on!? she screamed.

All of a sudden there was a flood of relief from the pressure on her lower abdomen. Leia dropped her head on the pillow as her first baby decided to become separate from it?s mother. Han was talking to her excitedly, but she couldn?t hear what he was saying. Dr. Mia was talking too but she couldn?t hear her. Then, faintly, she heard a cry, like it was far away and coming closer. The cry was coming louder and louder and stronger. It was her baby she could hear, letting her know that it wasn?t too impressed to be out of its comfort zone.

Finally she understood what Han was sayi

 

Chpt 4

?Let me hold her,? she said breathlessly.

Dr. Mia passed the new little bundle over to Leia?s open arms. The little baby was covered in aftermath and was a little blue but the pink was rushing in with every loud cry she would take.

?She?s got her mothers lungs, that?s for sure!? Han exclaimed.

Leia smiled at her new daughter. ?Han, she?s beautiful.?

?Yeah,? he whispered. He was totally in awe of what had just happen. How something so beautiful had come to life. He crawled over the bed to sit behind her to support her into a sitting position and looked over her shoulder at his crying little girl.

?She?s so small,? he observed as he placed his hand gently to the side of Jaina?s head, and noting the size difference.

Leia chuckled. ?I know she felt a lot bigger!?

?Congratulations, mom and dad,? Dr. Mia said over the top of Jaina?s cries.

Han?s eyes sparkled with pride for his wife and new child. I?m a father.

?Oh, honey,? Leia cooed. ?Baby don?t cry, don?t cry. You are so beautiful.?

Jaina started to settle at the soft sounds of her mother, and opened her dark eyes to observe her parents.

?She really does have curly hair,? Leia said, as she stroked her baby?s head, and looked at Han.

?Yeah,? Han suddenly became a little shy. ?I know my mother had really curly hair.?

Leia looked at her husband with tears in her eyes. Han never spoke of his family or childhood, and to say that her daughter had curly hair because of his mother made her even more proud of her husband and daughter.

?There?s a little bit of her in Jaina too,? she said quietly, kissing him on the cheek.

Han smiled back.

Dr. Mia started to feel Leia?s stomach for the position of Jacen. ?I think he?s ready to come too.?

?Yeah, I?m starting to feel it.?

The nanny droid was called into take Jaina and clean her in a warm water tub that was brought into Han and Leia?s bedroom so that the babies weren?t too far away.

Han watched the droid carefully to make sure his daughter was getting the most careful treatment.

?Oh, ok,? Leia sighed. ?One more.?

Dr. Mia positioned herself to deliver another baby. ?Ok, when you feel another contraction, push.?

Leia nodded, closing her eyes and reaching out for Han?s hand again as a contraction gripped Leia?s body and told her to push downwards.




30 minutes later, Jacen was born.

?I?m so glad that?s over,? Leia sighed, holding her newborn son. He didn?t screech as much or as loud as Jaina. He seemed quite comfortable in his mother?s arms. Jaina had fallen asleep in Han?s arms, and Dr. Mia was making Leia a little more comfortable, surrounding her with pillows before she let Luke and the others in.

Han placed himself on the bed with Leia, planting a sweet, gentle kiss on her lips.

?I love you,? he said, as Dr. Mia left the room to get the others.

Leia smiled tiredly at her husband.

?I love you, too,? she whispered. ?But I don?t think I want to do that again any time soon.?

Han smiled and looked down at his son. ?Yeah, I?m sorry you had to go through that, princess.?

Leia frowned. She knew Han would?ve found it difficult to watch her go through giving birth, but it was what life was about.

?I wanted to,? she responded, placing a hand on the side of his face. ?And it was so worth it. I wanted to have your children. There is no one else I would want to father my children but you.?

Han leant his forehead against hers and whispered so quietly that she could only just hear. ?I love you?...and I?m so proud of you.?

Leia lingered a sincere kiss on his lips. ?Thankyou.?

In breaking news this morning, we have just received confirmation that the former Princess of Alderaan, now leading Senator Leia Organa Solo, has just given birth to the newest additions, Jacen and Jaina Solo early this morning. Rash has more on the update as we go live to the Senators luscious home?Rash..

?Yes that?s right Keri, the news leaked out this morning at the forth hour passed midnight, by an anonymous source, Leia Organa Solo has given birth to twins. The night didn?t start of as planned through for the Solo?s as the fierce electric storm had disabled all hover crafts, leaving the Senator grounded at home. Fortunately the couple?s medic, Dr. Mia arrived to safely deliver the twins.?

Now Rash, has there been any word from the family since the birth?

?Well I have word the Han Solo will be making an appearance soon to let us in on the development of his new family?oh here he is now, Keri!?

Han Solo stepped out of his not so private home to face the media behind the tall iron gates. Immediately lights were flashing and people yelling at him to answer their desperate questions. Finally he placed his hands in the air as a silent demand for quiet.

?Argh?thankyou?everybody..for your concern and shared excitement over the delivery of my two new children.?

?General Solo! What time were your children born?? shouted one.

?04:16. Very early.?

?How long was the delivery?? shouted another.

?Forteen standard hours.?

?Has Jedi Master Sywalker taken them yet? Will we see them??

?You will see them in due time, and no, Luke has not done anything of the sort.?

?How are you and your wife coping with all of this knowing you won?t see them fir two years??

?Look, parenting is as new experience to everyone and like everyone else we will go through the heartache and joys, but right now we are just going to enjoy the new arrival of our children without people like you putting a damper on everything. I think that is enough, thankyou for coming and good-bye!?

Han turned his back on the cameras and reporters thanking the gods that he did not have Leia?s job of facing them everyday.

Leia, watching Han on the holonet, smiled to herself and thanked the gods that her beloved husband was better at flying than at public speaking.

?Leia, are you ready??

?In a minute.?

Han sighed to himself. Leia now took extra time to get ready as she no longer had to get herself ready to go out with him, she also had to make sure a dozen times that the twins were ok before they left.

?Patience, Han,? Winter said amusingly. ?It?s the first time she?s leaving them at home while she goes out. It?s a big step for a new mother.?

Han smiled back at Winter. ?Yep. I?m getting that feeling. It?s gonna be hard not having them for an evening, let alone two years.?

Winter said nothing. She didn?t necessarily feel comfortable separating the twins from Han and Leia, but she understood Luke?s valid reasons as to why.

?Ok, I?m ready,? Leia announced, as she came through the corridor to enter the lounge area.

Han looked over his wife. She was wearing casual/business black pants with a lovely v-neck crimson shirt that showed a teasing glimpse of her fuller breasts. Han was silently thankful that Lando would not be joining them for dinner. ?You look beautiful, sweatheart.?

Leia smiled at him, while gathering her brown slim-fitting coat. ?Winter, if there is--?

?Any problem to give you a call,? Han interrupted. ?She know cause you?ve told her more than once tonight. Ok, lets go.?

Han headed for the door with Leia?s purse in one hand, and holding Leia?s arm with the other.

Winter smiled as her friend gave her one more sheepish smile before her husband shut the door behind them both.






Luke sat patiently with Chewie at the Sky View restaurant for Han and Leia.

?I have a bad feeling about this dinner,? Chewie growled.

?Yeah. Well, it has to happen,? Luke replied with a sigh.

?Is it really necessary??

Leia came out of the fresher after a hot shower and slipped into her creamy silk gown. She was hurt. She didn?t understand how it was necessary for her to give up her babies for two years. Didn?t Luke understand that they needed their mother? Didn?t he understand the she had always at some point in her life, having to give up her family? And just this once she wanted to keep what was hers? Is it so wrong for her to be selfish of her children? And what was worse it was Luke, her brother of all people, who wanted her to do it again. That was what hurt.

Wiping a tear from her cheek, she walked into the nursery to pick up a crying two-week-old Jacen for his feed before he woke Jaina.

?Good evening, my little boy,? she said quietly. ?Are you hungry, buba??

The crying baby nestled his head against the breast of his mother in answer to her question. Leia chuckled as she nursed him.

?Just a little, hey? Just a little hungry?? Leia walked over to the nursing chair and rocked on it, as she looked at her son and memorised all the curves of his face. The beautiful shape of his pink suckling lips, his nose that she was sure was Han?s, and his big brown eyes that said so much. Gently she reached out to the force to brush his mind with hers. Delightedly she got brushed back. She closed her eyes and felt the comfort of her son?s trust in her and contentment, and she felt her heart grow with even more love and protection for her children.

?Leia??

Recognising her husbands voice, she kept her eyes closed and said nothing. Han walked over quietly to check on Jaina sleeping, and cupped her tiny head with his large hands.

Han sighed. ?Sweetheart, I don?t want them to leave any more than you do. I want them to stay. But I want them to be safe as well. I?m not saying that you or I won?t do a good enough job at doing that ourselves, but Sweetheart, this is something beyond our control and understanding??

He saw a new tear quietly roll down his wife?s cheek and drop onto Jacen?s blanket. ?You know we don?t know how to protect them in this case, honey. We can even have Chewie go with them, if you want. He would be great with them! You would have nothing to worry about with him there, honey. We would be able to see them whenever you want. Winter will give daily updates on them. Leia finally turned to face her husband as tears ran down her face. ?Why? Why is it always us? What did we do to deserve to sacrifice everything! Why?!?

Han reached up to kiss her tears as they left her eyes and cradle her head against his chest, careful not to disturb Jacen?s meal.

?I know, baby,? He whispered to her. ?I know.?

Still holding onto Jacen, Leia cried into Han?s chest until she exhausted herself. She knew she would always place her children?s safety above everything else, but she was tired of having to live a life that was full of sacrifices. First she lost her teenage years for the sake of the Senate, her Mother, then Alderaan, then her Father, her purity was taking by stormtroopers, then Han in carbonite, her friends in the endless battles against the Death Star, and now she had to give her own two children to someone else to look after and love for two years. And people thought she had a blessed life.

Han gently took Jacen and place him next to his sleeping sister, then helped Leia climb into bed with him. Wrapping himself around her with the blankets covering them, he watched her fall asleep on his pillow. He pushed a stand of hair away from her swollen eyes, and kissed her gently on her sleeping lips and allow
