Huh, I like that variant cover. Despite the Ewok. No we are not just going to stick with Leia Missa ab iPhona mea est.
"To protect his secrets". So the scourging isn't just a petty evil act of evil. Why would his secrets need protecting if he's dead? Why would he care? Is Sidious such a Sith Idealist that he cares what others do with his knowledge if he somehow didn't make it out?
This story is cool so far I hope they don't ruin it by going the predictable route and have Kes get captured forcing Shara to mount a desperate rescue, after all we already saw a similar situation in the season one finale of rebels.
Embarrassing baby photos still left on Naboo? (But srsly the secrets thing is curious -- Palpatine strikes me as the sort to leave all sorts of traps, so what's he worried about?) Missa ab iPhona mea est.
See, he had learned about this incoming Alien Invasion that was going to Do Bad Things, and he didn't want anybody to know about it so they'd be caught totally unprepared and stuff.
Maybe this Nabboo scourge is all a plot by an unknown Moff from Alderaan who wants revenge on Palpatine for destroying his world?
It that a new rocket launcher? Cause I love it! Also- every time I see the Pathfinders or SpecForce mentioned, I smile like a little kid. WEG made me love those guys. --Adm. Nick
THAT would be a great way to do it. Sadly it's looking like the order was legit, which is really disappointing. Missa ab iPhona mea est.
Even if the message really is from Palpatine, I don't recall anything explicitly saying it was an "in case of my death" message. You're weird, you know that?
...Unless NU Palpatine is like EU Palpatine and can project his consciousness out of his body and he's still alive somewhere out there.
You like diverse casts of characters, I like diverse types of weapons, starfighters, and warships. Besides, it's part of my charm. You'd miss it if I wasn't around. --Adm. Nick
Maybe there's proof that Palpatine was a Sith Lord, behind the Naboo Blockade / Separatist Crisis / Clone Wars? With the reboot, it would be interesting to see the post-ROTJ EU finally address the galaxy's knowledge of this. I'm not sure why he would care if he was dead, though. Or why he would care about anything if he were dead. Or why he would have a post-death plan to begin with.
Does the new EU have Palpatine with a plan for immortality yet, like how Legends had the Dark Empire plan? Perhaps he was still pursuing a plan, and feared Vader might kill him first. EDIT: I just realized. Naboo. Not only might Luke and Leia learn of their mother here, or Palpatine's master plan, they may learn of... Jar... Jar... Binks.
I can't see the Empire standing if everybody actually knew it was all under false pretenses. Missa ab iPhona mea est.
Might it even "shatter" the Empire, to the point that it begins to near total collapse within a year? And perhaps leading future Imperials to discard Palpatine and adopt Vader as their mascot?
