Has anyone seen the previews for this? It looks hilarious!

Shaun of the Dead, billed as "a romantic comedy with zombies," follows 29-year-old Shaun (Simon Pegg) who is stuck in a rut. His girlfriend, Liz (Kate Ashefield), is tired of their mundane existence and when Shaun screws up their anniversary date she decides to break it off.

Distraught, Shaun comes up with a way to win her back, but his plan is complicated by zombies that have suddenly, inexplicably risen from the dead and taken to the streets of London. Determined to salvage his relationship, Shaun and his buddies set out to rid the city of undead and save the day

Hm... the article that I read said that it was going to be out later this month in the US. It might be different if you're in England or something.

The DVD came out here on Monday, I'll be buying it sometime soon.
It's one of the few films I can trust I will like enough to buy the DVD even though I've never seen it.

I want to see Shaun of the Dead. I loved the latest Dawn of the Dead remake and how they infused it with some nice humor. This movie looks very entertaining.

The first half-hour is kind of slow, but after that it's very funny. Well worth seeing.

It's a great film!!! Really funny and hopefully should translate well in the US.
I wouldn't say the first part is slow, like all films it needs to set up characters and situations as it builds up to the zoombie action.
And if you like the band Queen, You'll love the end.

There are a few Star Wars connections too, the guy that voiced Darth Maul is init

I would also recommend the TV series Spaced from the same people. That's brilliant!!!!

The first half-hour sets up the characters, which is why I said it was slow; after that the zombies start appearing and the film just gets funnier and funnier. There is a sequence set to Queen which made me laugh so hard I ended up in tears ? that doesn?t happen often for me.

The cast is brilliant ? everybody is good or great, the characters are well defined (better fleshed-out than in many serious movies) and the humour is actually funny ? I don?t remember any parts where the film looked like it was struggling to get a laugh and not getting it.

I have heard that there are a lot of zombie-film in-jokes in the movie, but those largely went over my head and I still enjoyed it.

I got Shaun of the Dead DVD on Monday, have to say its ace!

Really funny, clever film with one or two scares as well. Basic idea is the Shaun is a bit of a loser being held back in life by his mate Ed, who is a lazy slob. Annoyed that he won't move on in life his girlfriend dumps him as slowly everyone else in the film turns into zombies. After a hard nights drinking Shaun decides to pull his life together only to discover the next morning London is full of the walking dead. Then follows his attempts to save his girl, friends and his family.

Loads of good jokes most will transfer over to America easy enough, the stone roses reference might go over a few heads though as well as the one or two Spaced jokes.

DVD extras are good as too, in particular the plot holes comic strips are very funny.

As for spaced it is the sit com that was written by Simon Pegg and Edger Wright. Very similar to Shaun of the Dead but without the zombies. Its about two flat mates in their mid twenties, Tim an unemployed cartoonist and Daisy an unemployed writer trying to find direction in their lives. Full of funny characters, Nick Drakes Mike steals it for me. Loads of film jokes as well like the one episode that is a complete take off of the end of The Empire Strikes Back.

It should be easy enough to get on DVD best thing on tele for years!

Was given the DVD for the old b?day a few days back as it was one film I was desperate to see and missed during its cinema release. Have to admit that this is one of the best films I have seen in a long while, laughs from beginning to end. Yes the humour is very reminiscent of that in spaced but this is hardly a bad thing. I do have to admit to being a little surprised at how dark the film is in places.
On a side note I live in the area of London where the film is set and a mere 30 minutes prior to watching the film I was walking home from the pub along the very roads in the film. This is going to make the journey to and from the pub a little different from now on and I can imagine myself, especially on the trip home, keeping a careful eye out for any un-dead ambling along the roads.

I'm convinced that Bitish comedy is far superior to American...

Upping this. Just watched it with a couple of friends and some unwelcome others...

Great movie. It wasn't as bloody as some people here have made it out to be, and even the scene when the guy was pulled out the window wasn't too bad.

There was some very funny scenes here, from the record throwing to the planning, stuff like that, to the end, when Ed is kept around to play video games.

Like the director's style too. Very cool scenes

Damn straight. British comedy tends to be a lot more sly and cutting than American comedy.
