According to the essential chronology, they were Hands of the Emperor. Anyone have details about them ?

(In my opinion, just giving a NAME is worse than not giving any information. Anyone here think that the Guides should include WHERE THEY TOOK THE INFORMATION ? )

(This is not related to the message up here. If you like Starwars style stuff, the FF Lunenoire project may interest you..)

All datafiles say Brie excelled in all studies, all classes. She achieved the highest performance rating there is.

And takes all credibility from her character. People are best in depth when they have a history, faults. Like Durron or Mr Zsinj, who was fat and sweating and real but jolly all the way.

As for Lyn, well, NEGTC appendix says she was comatose for "millenia"; other will say a 100,000yrs from when Jedi battled the Dark Jedi in the Hundred Year War that led to the renegades fleeing to the galactic rim, and imposing themselves on the Sithians. She too has no character depth to me; I'd like to know what her blatant thoughts would've been after awaking from a nap of tens of thousands of years at best, how the world has changed around her . . .

Arden Lyn also felt wronged by Palpatine. She teamed up with his traitorous Grand Admiral Zaarin and actually managed to capture the Emperor while Zaarin's forces disabled the Emperor's Star Destroyer. Maarek Stele disabled the shuttle carrying Palpatine enroute to Zaarin's Star Destroyer, then he and Lord Vader fought Zaarin's forces in TIE Defenders until Thrawn arrived.

    "Who's Shira Brie?"

Shira in a nutshell: Shira Brie is the original green-eyed, red-haired Emperor's Hand who was sent to destroy Luke Skywalker, yet ended up falling in love with him. She originally appeared in Marvel Comics' Star Wars issue #56 from February, 1982.

    [image=http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Hills/1375/lum2.gif]

Later, she became reigning Dark Lord of the Sith after Palpatine and Vader were vanquished. She is still alive as of NJO-era, and have taken the Sith underground like Darth Bane.

Phase 1 of Shira's Life - Hand of the Empire
"Most of Lumiya's life has been spent serving the Empire. Born Shira Elan Colla Brie, she was a native of the beautiful planet Coruscant, and was raised on an estate belonging to Senator Palpatine." (SWGM3) After he became Emperor, she was moved to his home, the Imperial Palace, with him. (M63) "Shira was gifted in all the ways a child should be: She was beautiful, intelligent, fast and strong. As a teenager, Shira was chosen for COMPNOR, a program for adolescent indoctrination. She quickly became the top inductee, and demonstrated an unwavering allegience to the Empire." (SWGM3) She was trained to expert rating in all known forms of combat and espionage. Obviously the Emperor knew she was special. His scientists altered her physiology through biological engineering to make her even more superhuman than she already was. They made her impervious to pain, gave her an accelerated healing factor, increased stamina and strength and increased her mental capacities even further through mnemonic drugs. She was enrolled in the Imperial Academy where she not only successfully made it to the top of her class, but received the highest honors in the history of the Academy. (M63) Upon graduation, she was sent on a solo intelligence mission for Intelligence Director Isard, which she more than proved herself able. (SWG5) She attained the rank of Major in the Imperial Special Forces. When Darth Vader wished to carry out his Vader Project, he selected Brie based on her exceptional past success. The mission, to infiltrate the Rebel Alliance to destroy Luke Skywalker. She joined the Rebellion through Rogue Squadron, where she and Luke were able to become romantically involved with one another.

Phase 2 of Shira's Life - Dark Star of the Empire
In the course of successfully destroying Luke Skywalker, Shira Brie was shot down by him accidently. The mission required the use of IFF ("Identify Friend or Foe") transponder-equipped TIE Fighters which could differentiate between the stolen TIE's used by the Rebels (Luke and Shira) and the normal enemy TIES. In the battle, Shira's TIE became damaged (the IFF transponder ceased functioning) and her and Luke managed to position themselves head-on to each other. As her TIE did not register as a friend to Luke (but his registered as a friend to her), he reached out with the Force to the mysterious pilot. Because Shira had been indoctrinated into the Imperial New Order for her whole life and was raised in Palpatine's home, she certainly gave off a rather interesting Dark Side vibe to him. He shot. The flaming wreckage of her TIE smashed into the planet below, mortally wounding her.

It was only by the grace of her biological engineering given to her by Palpatine's scientists that she was able to survive. (M61) "Shira was rescued by the Empire and returned to Coruscant. There,
the Emperor's scientists used their most advanced cybernetics to save her." (SWGM3) The Emperor's scientists remade Shira's wrecked body into something even more terrible than she already was. After recuperating, Lumiya was trained in the ways of the Force. From that moment on, Shira Brie ceased to exist. She became Lumiya - the Dark Star of the Empire. "While a desperate battle raged above the forest moon of Endor, Lumiya had begun the final test of all Jedi. Traveling to the far reaches of the galaxy, she uncovered an ancient Sith tome that spoke of a weapon forged of 'biting metal and stinging light.' That served as the basis

I've seen those sort of comic books. They're packing $60 Aust-class dollars, but they're very thick, like two SW hardcover books together. Art is flat and messy, about what you'd expect from stuff those days.

Here's few Shira pix. Scroll down tot he middle of the page. This article was an expose on how comic chicks are always buxom and usually red heads.

    Shira's halfway down

She sure looks hot for someone dying in a bacta tank.

So did that Jedi-wannabe girl in that horrible Empire Betrayal comic. She's covered up crown to heel, but her chest is bulging out. It could not have been more conspiuous.

Can a SW villainous not be strikingly attractive for once? More real, like fat sweaty Mr Zsinj, jolly till the end . . . [face_skull]

That based around the TIE fighter game right? Where is Arden Lyn's involvment stated? especially the bit about capturing Palpy?

Arden Lyn is also in Masters of Teras Kasi, correct? IIRC, she's assigned by Palps to help Thok, Hoar, and Boba kill the Rebel leaders in one-on-one combat.

Correct. Arden Lyn originated in Masters of Teras Kasi.
Grand Admiral Zaarin's coup d'etat was chronicled in the TIE Fighter game.

Arden Lyn's involvement in Grand Admiral Zaarin's kidnapping attempt was a later revelation told in her character entry in the "Emperor's Hands" article for Star Wars Gamer #5.

    Suzuki...
You'll have to be more specific with respect to Mara's age, given that (possibly due to some type of clone physiology of Mara's body) her age has been increasing at an increasing rate: Mara originated two years younger than Luke. As of Dark Force Rising, she was the same age as Luke. As of NJO/Balance Point, she is two years older than Luke.

Actually, Mara was about two years younger than Luke. As of Dark Force Rising, she was exactly the same age as Luke. As of Balance Point, she was about two years older than Luke.

Her age is seemingly breaking down and is increasing at an increasing rate as time goes on.

Mara?s exact age has never been specified other than that she is within 2 years of Luke in age.

Intresting. I know Genghis mentions her rate of aging increases at an increasing rate, but I find it highly intresting how it takes so many years to become two years older than Luke and only a short period to become the same age. And it makes me wonder if it's actually that Mara's rate of aging increases at an increasing rate or if she is not a clone of Shira Brie but rather a half clone of her, the other half being genetic material from some as yet unmentioned near-human race which can change their age at will. Perhaps in the future we'll see Mara as six years Luke's senior and then ten years his junior.

    Incorrect.

It had been specified by Timothy Zahn in discussing Mara's age related to Luke that she was originally two years younger than him. It has been specified in the Dark Force Rising Sourcebook that at that time, the two are the same age. And it was specified by Kathy Tyers here on this site that at the point in time in Balance Point, Mara Jade was two years older than Luke.

Her age is increasing at an increasing rate. I chalk it up to possibly some sort of clone physiology which may be breaking down as time goes on.

Mara has to be two years older, because if not then she was only 16 during the events of ANH, and that is not very realistic.
A teenager shows up to some king of 40 planets. "I'm the will of the emperor!" *hysterical laughter follows* Yeah, an assassin with limited force abilty, the will of the empire. Sure. No wonder they lost.

Leia was young (16) as a Senator, but let's face it, she was raised by a planetary ruler to be one.

all that means is that, like much of her early history, her exact age is not known, only a rough idea of how old she is give or take 2 years.A discussion with an author is not canon, but does give a general idea of his intents. It is in the final producs where canon comes into play. In Mara?s case, her exact ae isn?t known; just that she is around the same age as Luke give or take 2 years.

"That based around the TIE fighter game right? Where is Arden Lyn's involvment stated? especially the bit about capturing Palpy? "

As teh Genghis said, it was a revision from the Emperor's Pawns article. She was not mentioned in the game. The player's TIE Defender group arrives to find the Majestic disabled, and six unidentified shuttles leaving her hangar bound for Zaarin's Glory. The article merely added her as the one who secured the Emperor for the Grand Admiral.

Couldn't Mara's aging be some sort of hereditary genetic trait instead, or a side effect of possible gene therapy?
