    I did exactly what was recommended to me. Walk down the plumbing supplies aisle and start fitting pieces of pipe and other fixtures together. As I'm picking up one thing, deciding it's not right, I notice an employee old enough to be my dad watching me and kind of hovering nearby. After a few minutes, he comes up and asks if I need any help. I hold up the piece I'm looking at and ask him if he has something that size with a hole or a loop on the end. If not, how about one that I could drill a hole in? He hands me the same piece, only in PVC instead of metal. I thank him. He walks away and I continue selecting parts. About 5 seconds later, he's back. "Can I ask what you're making?" After I explained to him that I was working on a Jedi costume, he seemed a little less nervous, and was actually pretty enthusiastic about helping find small pieces that would work. I wore the hilt for Halloween, and it worked pretty well, although I didn't secure the clip as thoroughly as I should - Didn't have time for JB Weld. So it kept falling because of the heavy pipe that was the main section. It still looks pretty cool, and I like the weight of it when I go to pull it off my belt - I'll definitely keep this one for display, even it I don't wear it again. I haven't yet decided if I'm going to try and epoxy the hook a little better, or make a second one for dressing up, with more PVC sections this time. I'll post pictures when I get a chance.

    Aaaaaah, it can be such fun to get ideas from the plumbing section. One time, after I had made a couple of sink pipe sabers, I needed to bring it in to make sure I got the right kind of screw to fit into a hole on it, so I was able to show them what I was doing. They liked it and were happy to see where the parts they had sold got to. :)

    were you using the heavy gauge plumbing pipes, or the thinner sink tubes? i remember when i first wanted to make a hardware saber i was putzing with the heavy tubes. I eventually used a aluminum maglite ripoff from the dollar store and some copper tubing:

    I used to use the sink pipes but they just don't feel right to me. This time around I'm experimenting with conduit pipe found in the electrical section. Unfortunately they only sell it 10 feet at a time and I bought the wrong size on my first go. Oh well, I've blown $15 in worse ways.

    Hey Del, Are you gonna post a pic of your hilt? I am sure we all would love to see it, I know I would.
    I am constructing my first hilt. It is a blast going into Home Depot or Lowes shopping for LS parts.

    My problem is that I have no patience when it comes to working on my LS hilt. I just want to get it done. But I am having the will power.

    I'll post it soon. I haven't had the chance to fix the hook I put on the end. I bought Liquid Nails but haven't had time to mess with it yet.

    I think I have finally found the lightsaber that I would like to make....

    [image=http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i103/tavrikgannon/Props/JinsuRazor-SWG.jpg]

    This is the Jinsu Razor lightsaber that Emperor's Hand Aralina Silk had. Not that I am wanting to be Aralina Silk, but I do dg the lightsaber.

    Sounds like you had a good experience at Home Depot! I went through the same thing several years ago... but once the very perplexed employee finally broke down and asked what I needed the parts for, I'm afraid he thought I was rather nuts. :oops:
