You know I was just watching ROTS last night, and I was thinking how dumb the scene between Anakin and Grievous was. Honestly, does it really make sense for Skywalker to finally meet Grievous near the end of the war?

It's bad enough that the Clone Wars routinely tramples established EU continuity, let's not give it license to ignore the actual movies too. Besides, in real life, most generals never meet their counterpart in the opposition face-to-face so just think of it as a little realism in the Star Wars universe.

They can just meet in battle ship to ship, I don't see an issue, so long as Anakin doesn't win :p

True, but Grievous has fought Kenobi, Koth, Fisto, Adi, whom are all Jedi Generals. I understand that Grievous originally came about near the end of the war, but now since his debut has been moved to the beginning, it is kind of odd that Anakin never has an encounter with him.

I fully expect them to meet at some point.

I find it awkward that Obi-Wan and Grievous have met in TCW as is. In ROTS, when they fight, Grievous tells Kenobi that he is a fool and Grievous boasts that he has been trained in the Jedi arts by Count Dooku.

Now that it has been established that Obi-Wan has encountered Grievous on several occasions early on in the war, and that he is fully aware of Grievous' skill with a lightsaber by the time of ROTS, I would almost expect Obi-Wan to comment on Grievous' stupidity at making such a statement.

Having Anakin meet Grievous would be no less awkward IMO. Plus, as the show can run on indefinitely, I kind of expect Lucas and Filoni to go back on what they've said when it becomes necessary to come up with new ideas, and when the reoccurring Obi-Wan vs. Grievous grows tiresome.

Of course Anakin has already been near Grievous indoors in 3 episodes, so I hope that they don't overdo moments where Anakin conveniently goes somewhere before Grievous arrives. New fans who watch RotS might already be thinking "Oh, they have not met? But Anakin was in that place... oh yes, he went to get a ship/find R2/get C-3PO". It would be little stretched to have dozens of that kind of scenes. That's why I hope they let Obi-Wan and others to fight him indoors. Having space-tactics episode between them would be nice.

And there's no need to get them two meet each other, that would just be getting screams out of Grievous fans (because Filoni says Grievous wouldn't have changes against the Chosen One).

Grievous' first appearance was six months after Geonosis, when he too apart an entire team of Jedi Knights and Masters on his own, at the battle of Hypori.

I see, but that even makes the scene in ROTS even more ridiculous IMO.:p

I think they are missing a great opportunity if they don't have Anakin dueling Grievous in a starfighter combat. That's an awesome way to have them battle it out, without contradicting Ep3.

Too late for that. They talked to each other through a hologram in a TCW UK comic.

Well the way Grievous boasts can be taken many ways. First off, the main reason he says that is so people watching ROTS who don't know who Grievous is know how he is a non-jedi but still fights like one. But I mean, as far as "in-universe," goes, we now know he was just boasting cause he could. I have no problem thinking that.

Not really, it was just Grievous getting away and Anakin blowing up from some shrapnel. For a second there in the episode I thought they were actually going to duke it out, but it didn't happen. That's why I say they missed a golden opportunity.

Dave Filoni already mentioned that they can't ever meet face to face in TCW due to the lines spoken in ROTS.

However, despite meeting Obi-Wan plenty of times, it would be interesting to see him face some other Jedi - which he done so already such as Kit, Eeth, Adi Gallia, etc. There are still plenty more he could face/meet as well.

    Thank goodness for that.

Anyway no they shouldn't meet. I fully expect GL to add things into AOTC and ROTS(and TPM) when they're released on blu-ray but lets keep it this way. Keep Anakin's rivalry with Ventress and at times Dooku.

They shouldn't meet personally because the "you're shorter than I expected" and Grievous telling Anakin that he thought he was older from Act 1 of ROTS.

Anyway, face to face, not a chance. Hologram, as someone said, would... work in Lucas-Logics as they would not see each other well (size and age).

Also, someone mentioned Grievous fights like a Jedi in this thread - he doesn't. He just uses lightsabers, but he isn't force sensitive, which makes him play by luck and 'random' swinging, which gets him taken out like a b*tch by Kenobi. Someone said that they couldn't take Grievous seriously because he looks like a stereotypical Saturday morning cartoon villain, and that is true. "They told me this ship was fast!" gives an example, to me.
Take a look at Grievous from ROTS. We don't even know where he came from. But he just looks badass. Wood is doing both the Droids' and the General's voices, it seems the 'droid humor' thing is passing on to Grievous.

The Count is a useless bad-guy in this show, he hasn't done anything yet, besides being taken prisoner and talking to holograms.

In the comic, Anakin and Grievous talked to each other through a hologram. But, it "differed" in size. It doesn't make any sense, but they talked to each other before ROTS.

It does make sense that it would be ok for them to meet via hologram, as long it's one of those pint-sized holo-projections. That way Anakin wouldn't be able to get a good grasp on Grievous's height, and the poor transmission could make Anakin look a bit older. I'd still prefer they didn't meet at all, though.

Obi-Wan should never have met Grievous in TCW. But if they show Dooku improving upon Grievous's skills late into the series, the "Jedi Arts" line in ROTS would make more sense.
And no. Anakin will never meet Grievous in TCW.

They won't meet face to face. Dave Filoni stated it in one of the special features for Season 1. They may be a door away from eachother, they may fight starfighter to starfighter, they may even IM eachother on boards, but they will never meet until ROTS.
