I would say he's deserving of one - he literally has never spoken. Ever. In Legends or the NuCanon. I'd like to see him get a backstory, and a novel would be a great way to do that. Either a Clone Wars-era one or one chronicling him during the Purge (assuming he survived).
Maybe a one-shot comic It would be interesting to learn about him. He must have done something to get a seat on the council!
I so desperately want this, just for the hilarity. It should have Coleman be the secret driving force behind everything in the franchise. Also it turns out that he is real talkative, like Morn from Deep Space Nine.
With Kcaj there's always the danger of someone not paying attention to "him". Then something like this could happen:
He's one of the Jedi Council members in Ep III, also appears in the Clone Wars a couple times. I honestly didn't know his name until a few days ago, I was watching season 6 of TCW and happened to google the names of all the Jedi Council members...
I'd love something like this! Marvel should follow up the upcoming Star Wars Special: C-3PO #1 with Special: Coleman Kcaj #1 and a whole bunch of completely unknown characters (and some more known that you couldn't write a whole miniseries about). No, but seriously, Coleman Kcaj for ST villain mastermind (the new Sheev)!
It looks like the current plan for novels is to play it safe. In recent years, post-prequel, they published stuff like Scourge and Knight Errant, which were pretty limited in their audience, and I don't believe that they sold well. This isn't an indictment on their quality; I haven't read Scourge, but I thoroughly enjoyed Knight Errant. But it's simply not something a lot of people are going to buy. The best selling novels are those tied into products with a wider audience. The last SW novels that sold really well -- over 100,000 copies in the year of release -- were Invincible, The Force Unleashed, and Traviss' novelization of The Clone Wars. Two were part of a multimedia release, and Invincible was the conclusion of a large book series. And I think most people would agree that none of them were particularly good. I read all three, and Traviss' novelization was probably the best of the bunch, and I forgot I read it. The Clone Wars film was not a very good story. I doubt a book about Coleman Kcaj would appeal to many readers. Another factor to consider is that a lot of the readers that were interested in these niche stories were Expanded Universe fans that have become jaded by the reboot. I'm sure that plays into their more limited releases with books that attempt to appeal to a wider audience.
I'm pretty sure the Jedi Council just said "Ah, kark it, we need another chair filled and nobody's worthy" and just put a stuffed animal in that chair. I've seen no evidence that Coleman Kcaj even has autonomy.
I think it would be awesome if he got a novel, but continued to never say a word throughout the whole thing. Every time you think he's about to say something, someone else jumps in and says exactly what he was about to say, and Coleman just gives them this put-out look. It'd be great.
Well, we saw him get out of the chair and walk in the Yoda arc of TCW season 6. He might be an elaborate puppet, but I doubt the Jedi Council would ever have a puppet member. Yoda would never tolerate such a thing.
A limited run comic would work for him. A whole novel devoted to him is too much imo. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
