    I'd like to know because sometimes I wear my harness boots or my slouch boots outside my pants, but only because some of my pants don't fit over those boots. I actually prefer those types of boots to go inside my pants, but most regular fit pants either don't fit over the shafts or just don't fit well with those types of boots.

    By the way, for those of you who might not be boot connesoirs, slouch boots are a type of Western-style boots which are basically cowboy boots with "crushed" shafts. Mine are black pigskin Dingo X-harness boots (not be be confused with harness boots which are a modification of the classic Wellington, usually having square toes) which have detachable/adjustable harnesses, pointed (but slightly rounded) "J" toes, nickel toe rands, and all-nickel hardware on the harnesses. My Chippewah harness boots are black cowhide and, like the slouch boots, have nickel rings and rivets.

    Black and nickel (or chrome) is my favorite motif.

    [Star Wars fanboy]Um, excuse me, but Luke wears his boots outside his pants during the celebration scene at the end of ANH. And I think Han Solo might, too, but I'm not sure. Thank you.[/Star Wars fanboy]

    Amazing.

    Edit - I wrote "where's" instead of "wears." We need some sort of spell check. Of course, there are certain parties for whom the spell checker would break every time they post.

    I'm talking in our world, not Star Wars. In the Star Wars galaxy, anyone who chooses so can wear any kind of boots any way they want. In our world, society frowns upon those who wear unusual footgear in ways other than deemed acceptable by the standards of normalcy.

    Of course, some boots are meant to be worn outside the pants. Motocross boots are a good example. Engineer boots and harness boots can be worn inside or outside. I prefer to wear those types of boots inside my pants.

    I consider this a socio-political issue, do to the nature of the status-quo and their jackbooted normalcy police. Also, note the hypocrisy of the charlatans, as it is considered socially acceptable for them to wear jackboots, which are usually worn outside the pants.

    I'm not an advocate of jackboots, especially not the originals. Mass-produced fascist jackboots were notoriously uncomfortable and impractical. Add to that all the goose-stepping they did and you have a recipe for all kinds of foot ailments which can lead to back problems and other health concerns, none of which is important to fascists because they consider their people to be expendable commodities of the State (and if the degree of institutionalized conditioning is oppressive enough, their people consider themselves to be expendable fodder as well).

    Case in point: Stormtroopers

    ~~~~~
    I consider the harness boot to be a symbol of freedom. Just as the jackboot is a symbol of oppression and brutality, the harness boot should be considered a symbol of independence and liberty.
    Exactly. Why would anyone care? I know it's a rhetorical question, so I won't answer. But I will say this: DOWN WITH THE UPTIGHTS!!
    I might think it's funny to see boots on the outside because I don't see that normally but I also might think "good for him" because it's different. I don't know if I'd say the same for women but some guys can probably get away with the look.
    Would I consider them dangerous? haha... no I guess not but I might think it's a tough guy look depending on the guy. Either that or I'd think they need to get with the times and buy boot cut pants [face_laugh]
    Do what you want though. More people need to be original.
    Bootcuts are hard to find in my size. My pantsize is 29"x32" which is either so common that they get bought up fast or are so rare that nobody makes the same quantity of the same types of pants in that size as they do in other sizes. Whichever it is, bootcut jeans in my size don't exist.
    Maybe I should just get a pair of leather jeans that lace up the sides of the legs so I can adjust them accordingly to fit over the shafts of my boots. Or maybe I should get a pair of boots which are specifically meant to be worn outside the pants.
    Either way, it isn't about making a statement. Well, maybe for some but not for me. It's about utilitarianism. If you have to trudge through dense forests, you don't want your legs to get torn up by thorns and briars. If you trudge through a post-Apocalyptic* wasteland, you don't want your legs to get torn up by rusty metal, barbed wire, and broken glass.
    *The word "Apocalypse" means "Revealing." It doesn't mean what most people think it means.
    I love guys who wear their boots outside thier pants ;) Seriously I do. I wish everyone always wore their boots over their pants. The world would be a much better place :D
    Han wore his pants under his boots, so did Luke, and hmmm... Robert E. Lee I would consider them "dangerous" but in a good way. ;)
    Well tapered leg pants - you could wear boots outside
    straight leg - depends how big the leg opening is
    If you can't find boot cut either they don't make them (they probably make them more for girls) or you need to look in more stores and at different brands.
    I have two pairs of boots. I always wear mine under my pants. I only wear them with certain pants. And with skirts once in a blue moon. Of course I don't wear the same kind of boot.
    In all acutuallity, wearing your pants over your boots makes you more dangerous because you can conceal weapons that way. Boots that have pants tucked into them are harder to hide weapons in.
    I know Kurt Russel had a knife in his boots in BTLC, but he had a secret velcro compartment.
    by the way, harness boots are cool but engineer boots are alot cooler.
    :p
    And if anyone here saw the tread called "Go Cry me a river" that was started under my name, THAT WAS NOT ME. I left my password at work and the guy that works after me used it to log on here. :mad:sorry if anyone got POed over that one!
    Some boot makers make hybrid boots that are a cross between engineers and harnesses. HH - Double H, not to be confused with HavocHound ;) - makes a type of harness boot (model 2815, if I remember correctly) that has a square steel toe! Most lasts only accept round steel toes, but these retain the classic square type while at the same time being steel instead of just reinforced. What makes this ironic is that I had thought about square steel toes before I ever found out about HH 2815s.
    What I'd really like is a pair of GRAY engineer boots with exposed steel toe caps, large nickel buckles, and thick riveted straps for extra strength and durability while at the same time retaining full adjustability.
    ~~~~~

    Jack Burton's boots were brown leather side-lacers. I think they might have been a type of modified moccasin. I always thought it was odd that he didn't wear a belt yet he tucked in his shirt. I guess his jeans just fit really well. But still, if I was a truck driver back in 1987, I would have worn a belt that matched my boots and it would have had a huge-mongous oval plaque buckle with a dull gray gunmetal finish.

    I don't see many people wearing there boots outside of their pants.

    As someone pointed out (and they get coolness points from me for remembering it) Jack Burton (Kurt Russell) wore his boots outside his pants in 'Big Trouble in Little China' and he had a knife tucked away in there.

    The only people I really see wearing their boots that way are cowboys and bikers....and there aren't too many cowboys here.

    Are you kidding me? When i wear my boots, i always wear them outside my pants but what makes you think when people do this they are supposed to be dangerous? On this issue, i think it's only how you think about it. :)

    Bruce Willis once wore socks with sandals. The media went crazy and he got a citation from the People magazine fashion police.
