Currently failing it...I don't know that it's worth learning a year of math(they had me skip pre-calc for some reason) while on a courseload just to suck in a nice sounding class. What say you, JC?

Btw, back on my Macintrash, so I can apple+v for the letter a but can't capitalize or type the letter after p :(

Edit: To do this, I'd have to drop band or stop playing soccer...neither of which I'd wish to do.

Unless you are rapping for the band, drop it and drop calculus. Math sucks, the only thing you need to know for math is how to add, subtract, divide, and multiply. So don't waste your time.

Why are you asking us? It's your class. If you want to drop out go ahead.

Edit: To do this, I'd have to drop band or stop playing soccer...neither of which I'd wish to do.

Then nevermind my post above. :p

My advice would be to drop it. As much as I love math, I think Calculus can be overkill unless you're going into a field that requires it. And if you're failing it anyway, I'd say drop it. :)

AP Calculus will only do you good if you learn enough to score well on the test...if you're already failing it, you'd be better served to take a regular Calculus class and do better in it, then to torpedo your GPA over it.

A lot of schools don't have a "regular" calculus class. Or at least, they don't have a class that ought to be called calculus.

I'd never advocate dropping a class, especially an AP, but that's just my position.

    lol, paddy ftw

    EDIT:

    Drop Calculus and Band.

I failed calculus twice before getting a B over the summer. I am not a fan of calculus, and believe you should only take it if you need it for your career... or if you're a math geek.

I would agree that if AP Calculus is effecting your overall GPA it might be wise to drop the class. Since you're still in high school, there are other alternatives as you'll have the opportunity to calculus in college. The only purpose of taking any AP class in high school is to get college credit, provided you pass the exam, otherwise it's all for not and you will have to take the course again once you're in college. Only one person in my AP Chemistry class pass the college credit exam. :D

Yes, I was facing a D at midterm, and ended up with a 1 on the AP exam, and no credit, I wish I had dropped it.

I was under the impression that if I studied hard enough for the exam, that I somehow would turn out OK, and it doesnt work like that. From experience, that AP exam was outrageously hard, at least the 2003 version was.

I had AP Calc BC last year, as a junior. Are you a junior or senior?

I think you should, it's a tough course as it is, but to have not taken Pre-Calc, it would be just...impossible.
