Should I get a Panasonic AG-DVC7?

Ok... I have a grand to spend on a new camera. B&H has these in stock for $1,025. My parents won't let me buy used (and I don't even think I would want to get used myself). Anyway, this looked like a fair choice. I won't spend any more than this on a camera alone, so don't make more expensive suggestions (especially the AG-DVX100). Would you suggest this camera? It will be used for short films mainly. Any info here would be great. Thanks!

Well, I'd say it's a good camera for that price range.

However, a 3CCD chip model would be best. Panasonic also makes this model for $1,500 (copy and paste)....

I'd say both of those would be better than the AG-DVC7 because they use 3CCDs instead of 1CCD.

 

I agree with Pixel. My Sony DCR-TRV25 does everything your $1025 example does for $550! It doesn't offer any benefits.

The three CCD one's Pixel mentioned... now that is worth the price difference.

 

How much of a noticable picture quality difference is there between this, and the 3CCD cameras?

 

I defiantely can notice an image quality difference. 3CCD cameras also make it MUCH easier to do blue/greenscreen work.

 

Are there any comparison pictures I can see?
